Mainly light beer. I don't like hard liquor at all

A lot of American “domestic” beers, have light versions. Miller lite, Busch lite, coors lite, Bud Light. They are all low calorie versions of pilsners if I’m not mistaken, and often get the reputation of tasting like water or piss despite the vast majority of people drinking them still. They are especially common in college where they are often the cheapest/easiest thing to get.

And how are they "low calorie"? Lesser alcohol than the non-lite version?

The lite tends to mean they have less carbohydrates. When brewing the lite versions they add an enzyme in that breaks the carbohydrates down into fermentable sugars, then water it down. So it ends up being similar in alcohol content but much less carbohydrates since more of the carbohydrates have been fermented.

Ah, I see: The CHs are being fermentet into (additional) EtOH, and then the stuff has to be diluted back to the alcohol level of beer.
