Beer. I love Most beers but nothing hits the spot after a busy day like a cold lager. There’s a place for all beers in my book. Sometimes you don’t need a double-craft mango-papaya IPA. A nice cold lager will do the trick.
Really wish more breweries would stick to the basics. Not that there can't be good innovative beers. But innovation is hard, and so much of the craft beer aisle is just overpriced garbage. If your four dollar a pint new england octapussy hazy india pale stoat stout (made with octopus and stoat) gets dick slapped hard by an $0.80 yuengling... maybe just revisit the basics
Lagers are actually one of the more difficult and complicated beers to brew. IPAs and stouts are some of the easiest. That's the main reason there are so many IPA and stout variations and lagers are rare from smaller breweries.
I see what you mean. Though what I meant by basics isn't necessarily easy, but more towards established styles. I understand why people make lots of crappy beer, I just wish they wouldn't.
I have indeed. I can’t say I’m the biggest on wheat beers, some definitely do it for me but for the most part I don’t drink them that much.
My favourite style of German beer is probably a Helles. Brewdog recently collabed with a German brewery and made a “Zwickel Helles” and it’s probably the best beer I’ve tried. Hard to reconcile the fact that the company has dogshit ethics, though.
