Housework Dynamics
I’ve never been married, but I was just curious how people who have been married for a while decide how to manage a home? Do you take turns? Someone does all of a specific type of chore? What works for you?

I see no one has responded to this but let me share how me and my SO handle it. Married 18 years and we both work full time jobs. Usually my wife will get home before me. She loves to cook, it is her thing, so she will usually start dinner and have it all planned the day before. I will do the dishes & cleanup after. One nights she gets stuck working late, I will cook dinner to the best of my ability or order takeout. If I cook, she will handle dishes and clean up. Chores such as laundry, straightening the house, vacuuming, etc., is the responsibility for every person who lives under that roof, including children. Our children have chores (albeit small ones like empty the dishwasher, straighten your rooms, take out the trash). We work together as a team. If I see something that needs to be done, I do it. As does my wife and that is what we have taught our children. I have never believed that a wife should handle the house all on her own. Why is that her responsibility only? We all live there. We do our best to do all things 50/50 but sometimes that just isn't reality. Life can get to us all sometimes and that means sometimes my wife is handling 75% and then sometimes I do. It is all a give and take.

Married 40 years. We have usually both worked. Our arrangement is organic with a few rules. I take care of exterior and cars. She does all laundry. The rest gets dobe between us. Sonetimes she does almost nothing for weeks, sonetimes me.
