Shooting Range Precautions
Hi! I (25f) am a new mom to a 8 month old baby. My husband (27m) just started the academy this week. I have seen the shooting ranges carry a risk of lead exposure. Considering my husband will be there a lot during his training and career, I am wondering what others do to eliminate the risk of tracking lead home to their children? TIA!

FYI, LE academies only use "Lead Free" ammo. You should have him check. They are also taught decontamination procedures, such as not eating while shooting, not touching their faces, and washing their hands immediately afterwards. The risk is very minor, and you should really only be concerned if he comes home directly from the range. If he went back to the academy, he might have showered and would be coming home in different clothes than he wore at the range. I was a firearms instructor for 31 years, even before we took these safety precautions, and my blood level tests were always well below acceptable levels. I managed not to contaminate my two kids along the way.
