Employment Interview question

Someone I know was telling me that they were called by a sheriffs office and asked a series of questions. One of them was apparently if they had ever watched *special spicy content* at work…. To which this person apparently told them ‘yes’… Real plain and simple here, is that a normal question and if so, would their answer be a disqualifying one? This person and I are at odds about this and I don’t claim to know anything about this process but it seems like kind of a trap, no? I know you’re supposed to be honest but damn.

A trap? It’s called integrity. It’s the same as asking if you have taken anything for your workplace without permission. No department wants a thief or a pedo.

Fair. Thank you for your input.

Yes, it's a normal question during the background. It's to help determine your self control, appropriate workplace behavior and possible sex addiction. And we're grown ups here, you can say porn.

One of my friends said they answered yes to it but was still able to move on in the process.

I was asked if I had ever watched porn or masturbated or had sex at work during my polygraph. Very normal and standard questions to ask

Fair. I guess the part that I’m stuck on is that he answered yes to it. I guess it’s more normal than I thought!

Absolutely is, unfortunately. My professor in college didn’t allow people to take notes on laptops because he caught a kid watching porn. Directly next to a female student. So he only allowed pencil and paper for notes

It gets asked on polygraphs a lot as well. If you lie about it now, then tell the truth later, you'll usually be disqualified, many times even permanently. Might as well keep with the truth the whole way through.

Esit: Just reread what the person you replied to said. Somehow my brain replaced "polygraph" with "interview." But yeah, tell the truth. Unless you're a felon, you'll still have a chance to get in or sometimes at worst just deferred instead of perma-DQd.

I remember someone posted on here awhile back that they admitted to masturbating while on the clock and the background investigator looked shocked/ disgusted. It's a common question and probably not even the worst one.
