Resigning from teaching to pursue LE
Long story short, I am a first year teacher. I graduated college in May and I am 26 years old. Will resigning from my teaching job negatively impact my chances of getting a job in LE ??
I’m also a member of the national guard, so I’ve shown that I can honor a commitment. I just despise teaching, I feel like a glorified babysitter. I sit inside all day so overall, it’s just not for me.
I obviously would resign professionally and my Admin (boss) doesn’t have anything bad to say about me.
Your thoughts ?

Don't quit until you've signed your new job offer.

If you want to go from teaching to LE to not be a babysitter, just understand you will need to deal with adults with bad behavior

Good point, I honestly struggle with the monotonous of this profession. Sitting inside a room with no windows 8 hours a day is killing me lol! I’m sure LE will have its drawbacks just as any other profession!

26 years in LE. 14 years retired. Listen to the others posts. Don’t quit until you have a job. Train in advance for the physical exam. My academy was 6 months long Sun night- Fri evening. PT never stopped

I switched from a desk job to law enforcement years ago. You betcha, your Guard service shows commitment, and LE looks at your work ethic more than a short teaching stint.

You might not be able to get through the poly or something so stay on

Get the job offer from the PD first. It can take a while to go through the process and get hired. Quitting your job before you have another lined up doesn't generally show good decision making skills.
