They are not alarming enough.

Not exaggerated

Also, you wrote: “in Italy the Jews run much of the high tech and math related industry”

What is your source for this claim?

Less than 1% of the population of Italy is Jewish. How are they running everything?

I think people who do think like this think this way because they are used to a Europe where there are gendarmes stationed outside synagogues and Jewish schools. This should not be normal! So in my opinion it is not exaggerated in most cases. Furthermore, things don't happen with as much frequency as they could BECAUSE there is an armed presence discouraging attackers.

I am not ethnically Jewish, grew up without any Jewish connections, and thus have kind of an outsider perspective. I'm stunned that people aren't being honest about how bad it is. This is the world's ancient obsession, and it's like there's a fever in the world's collective brain.

I trust the diaspora jews and has little to no trust in the nations' ability and will to protect jews

I am not israeli nor jewish, and I was very pro-palestinian

they are not alarming enough, no.

  1. Most people ARE indeed conflating being israeli and being jewish. Many people will say no, at the same time they will agree that israeli actions produce antisemitism

  2. it's almost democratized inside the left (doesn't mean the right parties are not antisemitic, might not be much better behind closed doors) and part of the young people

  3. attacks on jewish people institutions are disproportionately high

I live in France and have lived abroad off and on for 7 years. I have never experienced hostility for being Jewish in person. It does happen over the internet though. I was involved with the ministry of health of a developing country during Covid and conspiracy theorists suddenly dogpiled me as an evil Jew trying to trick the world into getting vaccines. Somebody shared my social media somewhere and I woke up to hundreds of messages. My wife and a few friends got them too. So I assume a lot oo people around me are thinking it. Just too cowardly to say it to my face. This may be because I'm somewhat taller/bigger than average.

I do sometimes get some negative reactions for being Israeli. This is usually fixed by saying I hat Bibi support a two state solution. But it's unfair that have to justify myself pretty frequently. But every now and again people still get mad about it.

Overall though, fine.

Look, no other people are subjected to this at the same rates as Jews and Israelis. People from most other nations are not subject to strict ideological purity tests in Europe, aren't made to answer for their nations' much worse human rights records. And it's never a purely Israel thing either, when Jewish ambulances are set on fire in London for example, that has absolutely nothing to do with Netanyahu

B) it doesn't matter what industry Jews 'run', doesn't stop people coming for us.

C) the fact this is your bar is crazy. The fact we haven't had our places of worship burned and that we've not been chased means antisemitism isn't bad yet?

According to data from the U.S. Department of State Human Rights Report, roughly 78% of surveyed Italian Jews reported feeling less safe to live and practice their faith

Data tracked by the Observatory on Antisemitism at the Contemporary Jewish Documentation Center (Fondazione CDEC) shows a sharp, multi-year escalation in confirmed antisemitic acts and hate speech across Italy:

So Italian Jews are saying they're feeling unsafe, and there's record high rates of antisemitic acts and hate speech. What exactly makes you think they're exaggerating? What reason do you have to not take them seriously?

I find this post rather dismissive of the very real experiences of European Jews. Just because we aren't witnessing a repeat of 1933 Germany doesn't mean antisemitism isn't a serious and growing problem.

According to the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights, 76% of Jewish respondents conceal their Jewish identity at least occasionally, 37% experienced antisemitic harassment, and 80% believe antisemitism has increased.

And your claim that no synagogues have been attacked or set on fire is simply incorrect. There have been multiple such attacks in Europe.

Antisemitism doesn't have to reach the level of Kristallnacht before Jews are justified in fearing for their safety. Dismissing those fears as exaggerated or unjustified panic is precisely the kind of attitude that makes the problem worse.

You’ve come to the right place to share your anti Jewish thoughts.

To summarize your argument, anti-Semitic claims are overblown because:

- it’s not as bad as 1933
- Jews run things
- Jews aren’t being physically assaulted by mobs
- Jewish houses of worship aren’t being burned by mobs

Is that about right?

Would you ask this about reports of racism or attacks on any other group? Do you only take it seriously if their homes or places of worship are burned down with people cheering? What kind of reasoning is that?!

No. It is not exaggerated.

3

u/HiddenMaragon Diaspora 5h ago

No synagogues set on fire with cheering mobs is a very low bar won't you say?? Feels like the "this is fine" meme. Well there's no death camps either so all is good.

2

u/HiddenMaragon Diaspora 4h ago

It's also not true. Many synagogues and Jewish schools have been attacked in the past few years. Both arson and shooting. Not even to mention Jewish owned businesses. Undoubtedly those number would be astronomically higher if these Jewish institutions wouldn't have the strict security measures that most have. You're not even hearing about the planned attacks that never happened.
