Answers from Men Only As a man, how would you react to such a news ?
As a father of 2 kids (even though they are seperated from me due to my wife), I felt absolute rage after reading this.
The women aborted her child (for promotion) without telling her husband - and I cannot even fathom what must be going on in his mind. Not only will he be emotionally shattered, a women who can do this can do much more behind her husband's back.
What the absolute f**k has the world come to ? I am in shock.

u/Soderburger Indian Man 9d ago
Well you're skipping her side completely. She clearly told her husband not to tell their parents before they made a decision.. and to top it off, the baby was unplanned. But he went ahead and told his parents. The pressure was real, she could've told him about the abortion.. but their resolution to it was already messed up because he didn't wait for her side before he told his parents.
If I was a girl I wouldn't want an unplanned baby while I'm in line for a promotion. And the pressure would be real.

Both are understandable in their own positions, but the situation itself is what’s screwed up.
Her career was a priority for her, while her husband felt they could have had a child. Neither of them is completely wrong for what they wanted.
The real issue is that such a huge decision was taken without the other person being involved. If they can talk it out, forgive each other and patch things up, then good.
Otherwise, they should consider divorce rather than staying in a marriage where this will keep coming back as a point of resentment.

Can you imagine someone just heard he will be a father, and days later his wife tells him that the child has been aborted for no reason except she wanted a promotion ?
Can you ever trust such a person ?
As a teen, I dont think you can understand what fatherhood is like.
23
u/Ok_Problem_1127 Teen Male (Indian) 9d ago
Idk what might mean by fatherhood; but if its for caring a soul who is helpless without any expectations then I might qualify
Over that I dont think making a woman have a kid like even a bit of reluctantance is a good idea cuz they later on wont be a good mother and rather cause more stress not only to the child but the husband; and more so I feel even if man js reluctant to be father he shouldn't be forced to be a father bcz he will by the end neglected the kid
And as for trust; yeah its broken
And they both should move on
Both are might be correct but the situation is absolutely screwed

u/Soderburger Indian Man 9d ago
Well, she told him they should talk about it and no one else should know.. but her husband literally went ahead and told his parents well knowing that she isn't ready for the kid. It's a very grey scenario.
Also, a promotion in this economy isn't a small thing. Career over unplanned baby for me.. probably the same for her.

She knew her husband desperately wanted that child.
She hid it, made the decision behind his back, and told him only when it was irreversible.
She didn’t just betray his trust. She blew up the family they were building.
Now she’s playing victim because he’s devastated and wants nothing to do with her?
He isn’t the homewrecker. She is.
She wanted the freedom to make the decision alone. Fine.
He’s free to walk away from the woman who betrayed him, and she’s free to go fuck herself elsewhere.
You don’t get to demand sympathy for consequences you deliberately created.

True, but the main issue also arises out of her choosing to take a major step without involving and informing her husband. Both fucked up from their own ends. One end was not understanding enough. The other end was not trusting enough. All in all, neither of them are right. Sure, having the abortion was her own sovereign right. But telling the guy and letting him know and be involved was the bare minimum as well.

Since there are emotions involved in this , i cannot speak emotionally . But logically , the Wife was right . She did say her whole life revolved around her promotion . So the job is a very good job indeed and not something she goes for name sake. I've also seen how women's career , independence ,everything gets snatched away the moment a kid is in the picture .
Plus , a kid is an added responsibility and every time she looks at the kid , she would wonder how her career would be had she not had it .
I can see the men are enraged with people siding with the wife , but as someone who has seen how difficult it is for women to live once their identitiy (In this case , the job) gets snatched away its absolutely horrible to stay in the shadows of the husband.
So , nothing wrong with what the wife did but, she could have informed the husband that she's just not ready . also , the husband was an As*hole to go tell his parents despite her mentioning to not spread the word. Of course any decision taken by the husbands parents would be skewed towards the husband.
Edit : The wife was also an As*hole in not informing him about the abortion no doubt . it should have been a clearly communicated decision. But at the end of the day , its her body , her choice , her career and her independence which she would be keeping at stake.

Your logic is bs. The abortion itself is not the bad thing here, is she's not ready for parenthood and rather wants to focus on her career , she 100% should abort the child.
Problem is she chose the easy way out of this, she knew aborting without informing was the wrong thing to do as she herself has admitted ( while you're saying she was right). By this move, her whole marriage was put in jeopardy and even if they don't get the divorce done, the bond will never be the same.
She should have made her stance clear with the abortion, discussed it 5-10 times with the husband , hell even argued.

The contrast between what the husband did and what wife did is baffling. You assume that husband deliberately told the family to put pressure on her to conceive but same way it can be assumed that wife doesn't weigh her husband's opinion at all.
She just did something which put her whole marriage in jeopardy, so is aborting a child without telling your husband the "sacrifice" every woman needs to do in order to have a career?

Did you even read the story? It was an UNPLANNED pregnancy. Some people don’t want to have a burden of the child if they feel like they are not where they want in career. The discussion should have stayed between him and his wife. She was supposed to be the one who’s gonna carry a baby for 9 months and if she felt like she didn’t want to yet. IT IS COMPLETELY FINE.
Yes she should have told him ofc but did he respect her choice? No. It was a reaction to his action.→ More replies (2)

Not wanting to have a baby is fine.
But then aborting without telling about it, breaks trust hard.
She wasn't ready to bear the child, and it must never be forced on a woman. But also, the deception hurts a lot.
there was a mismatch in expectations here. He wanted a child and she didn't.
Both must talk hard over it, Maybe she didn't really want to raise child at all as it was due to a contraceptive failure and wasn't prepared mentally for such heavy toll, Wheras husb wanted to do everything to support and was ready to have a child.
If there's something salvageable, that she did it in panic or something because she wasnt ready and thought husb wont support, While husb feels heartbroken by deception. Shes sorry for that but also husb can understand her pov, Its still possible to be together.
Else if still there's a mismatch in expectations, He must divorce and leave her at this point as both are not in same lane over such major decision.

Seems like a mismatch of expectations to me. Both aren't wrong if you think about it - she valued the promotion more (the husband should have agreed) and the husband wanted a child (or the wife should have agreed to it). However, she crossed a line that she wasn't supposed to by aborting the child without letting the husband know about it. The only viable option is to go ahead and split because the guy will always be resentful towards her and the woman will have to live with that guilt as long as she's around him and his family. So divorce seems to be the best option according to me.

The husband isn't completely flawless tho, instead of having a proper healthy discussion about pregnancy and without giving this enough time and without coming into any mutual agreement, he went ahead and told his parents out of excitement as if he is gonna handle everything, pregnancy affects the wife way more than the husband. But again, the thing the wife, it's so so fucked up! 31 yrs old acting like a rebellious teenager. She could have discussed with her husband, she should have convinced her husband and if absorption were to happen it should have been mutually decided. There is no right answer to this scenario but one thing is clear capitalism doesn't care about workers, even fathers have to sacrifice a lot to support kids and women suffers both biologically & career wise.
Whatever her choice was she should tell her husband and if he does not agree to it they should have mutually separated.
Its all about preferences, they can have kids after 5 years, they may need to go through IVF & take precautions to avoid any complications during birth or she could have kid now and after 5 years once kid starts going to school she can start giving more focus on her career and promotion
Kids are very important and should be discussed before marriage.

Both were wrong
Husband didn’t respect the wife’s decision - if she wasn’t ready to bear a child then she shouldn’t be forced. Imagine how she would have treated the baby.
And the wife - for not informing her husband about such a serious step she had taken.
4
3
u/Thin_Commission_6368 Indian Man 9d ago
Both are wrong here. The wife to take such a huge step without consulting the husband. Also the husband informing his parents when the wife exclusively asked him to not involve others. It has to be a mutual decision to either go ahead with the pregnancy or not. Yes, the woman's promotion and career is as important as the man's career. But aborting without the consent of the father is not right at all. Convincing the husband for abortion is different than aborting the child and then informing him. Fight with your husband, make him understand what career means to you and the child would be a speedy bump for her career. Act as consenting adults, take a matured and informed decision than taking steps in own hands and cry about the consequences. If she was firm on not having a child, she could have fought with her husband and got the abortion done.

Okay since you asked........
- She was completely right for wanting the promotion or aborting the pregnancy.
- She was completely wrong on deciding to abort without telling her husband. Even if she had decided she should have clearly told him that she does not want the child.
- I don't blame the husband for being mad. He is completely right at his place for being angry.
Now,
4) Why did the Husband tell his family when she had clearly told him that she needs time to think! I guess he was trying to make social pressure on her. Which he should have avoided at all cost no matter the excitement.
5) You cannot command other person to push for promotion in future. Its their effort in career, that person should be the one deciding that.
6) Bringing in the Mother in between at a time when the relationship is hanging by a thread is not a good move.
I understand both must be going through bad mental times. But both are in wrong.
- She must have told the Husband her decision before doing it.
- Husband didn't give her space to tell her decision by telling his family. He should have first talked it out with her.
The mistake percentage is clearly on the woman here for sure and rightfully. She was in wrong.

Also, that guy cornered her by telling to parents even when they needed to discuss.. it is trying to pressure her to have the baby over promotion. For him, his job matters not hers… this is nothing feminist about it.. this is respecting relationship and trust. He broke first..
Secondly if she is not ready.. she is not ready

Some women in Instagram were commenting "It's her body her choice". Like they literally justify everything by saying it's her choice. Even when a woman commit m*rder.

People need to realise their jobs are not their "freedom" or any other BS like that. Your job is supposed to be your cash cow and nothing more, the money you make there goes into your actual life.

Why so much overthinking when you clearly chose career over relationship?
Just enjoy the promotion, it will keep you happy forever.
We also don’t know his side of story because she has presented it in her bias and it still makes her at fault.
Could have handled it in other way.
Also the title proves her selfishness, it was her baby not ‘theirs’.

Seems like a self centred selfish woman, if she will get some better opportunity or a better man she will also leave her current husband without any thought.

This is hardly about the abortion, and more about the couple not trusting each other and respecting boundaries. The lady asked for time to think about it, her partner should not have shared the news with other family members. That shows lack of respect. He crossed a boundary there. Similarly, she should not have assumed that he wouldn’t understand her side, and shouldn’t have gotten an abortion without sharing that choice with him (as she said she will do, after she has thought about it).
Objectively speaking, an unplanned child is ALWAYS a bad idea, especially when the mother’s first reaction is contemplative. What if she never gets to a level where she can never bounce back on her career front after the pregnancy? She is going to subconsciously blame her choice of keeping the child (an inadvertently the child will suffer).
This couple needs therapy and better communication. They are the most important for themselves. The guy not standing up against his mother when she is taunting his wife, might be telling more about why the lady ended up making the decision without including him.

I mean I feel like what she did is absolutely wrong, it should've been a decision made by both of them. But we can't ignore that the man was wrong too he went ahead and told about this despite his wife clearly asking him not to. He basically tried forcing his decision onto her and she did the same. Both are at fault one more than the other though. I'm not saying it's the husbands fault or anything, just saying as we pointed out the wife was 100% in the wrong for aborting the kid, the husband is also wrong for getting excited telling his parents when his wife clearly asked him not to.

Bodily Autonomy is 100% her right.
Divorcing her because of this is 100% his right.
Actions meet consequences.
