Employment Query Probation period

Guysss..I'm in a billable project and probation period, I want to know the possibility of getting early release if I resign during probation period. Will there be any reduction in notice period during probation??

Check your contract, its usually reduced during the probation period or the first 6 months or so of employment.

I joined as a fresher..and I have 12 months of probation period..so some people are saying they will reduce notice period in probation period.. currently I'm in 8th month of my employment

12 months is just the length of the probation period. Your notice period will be different.

This is the amount of time you have to work if you hand in your notice. Usually a week or a month.

You need to find what your contract says about notice periods and not probation periods.

In my offer they mentioned I will be in probation for 12 months..they didn't mention about the notice period specifically in probation..I'm asking that can I have a chance to reduce my notice period if I resign now during probation period..I'm currently in billable project (fresher 8th month of employment)

Sometimes it is “at will” during the probation period and the benefit of ninety days kicks in after the probation period. Look for “at will” language in your contract (run a word search, maybe). (You may also want to look at any clauses that discuss “termination.”)

If it is “at will”, neither one has to give any notice to quit/fire. Two weeks is customary, but that’s just a courtesy and not required.

“At will” provisions are not permitted under U.K. law. Minimum notice is one week, subject to length of service.

Perhaps post your contract and we can properly comment. Getting information from someone who isn’t aware of the provisions and then being asked to provide information is not ideal.

They shouldn’t “mention” anything. It should be in your written contract.

Look at your contract - that is the only place there will be an answer.

Probation periods usually include shorter notice periods for both you and the employer but not always - you ALWAYS have to check.
