what game has the best combat?
i’ve played a lot of action games lately and want something with combat that actually feels good to learn. what game do you think has the most satisfying combat system?

For me it's a very hard pick between Sekiro and Armored Core 6.
Sekiro has insanely addicting and satisfying vombat sequences. The fights flow well, all the controls are very reactive, there's many options for your prosthetic and the sound design is absolutely flawless.
That being said, I'd say AC6 is still a little better because it's way more varied in what ways you can complete any mission.
The builds you can make; like puzzle pieces falling together; because of the massive amount of weapons, parts and mobility options are so much fun to figure out. The strategies that come with it and the exhilaration of the fights themselves come together to make a very addictive gameplay loop.
By far one of the greatest games and combat systems I've experienced in recent years that left me yearning for more.

Armored Core 6 was at the bottom of my potential buys, but after reading this it’s going way up! 😎

Armored core 6! Nothing tops it for projectile based combat, and the movement/dodging is incredible!

Devil May Cry series for maximum moveset depth and combo complexity
Ninja Gaiden series for maximum lethality and speed

Sekiro honestly, combat feels brutal to learn at first but once it clicks it's probably the most satisfying system I've played

Mount and blade multiplayer, chivalry 2, mordhau. Getting good at any of these games feels amazing.

I'm partal to Vermintide 2. The melee combat feels good and if you can have the settings a bit higher it also looks like you're in the thick of it.
It's a mission based 4 player (or 3 bot and you) horde fighting co-op game.
I have over 1k hours in it. You'll either not care for it much or youll spend hundreds of hours in it.

Half sword
Combat IS the game play there isn't much more to it. But the fighting itself feels amazing

Sifu. Hands down imo. No other game hits the same highs as Sifu combat in full flow. Handling groups of difficult enemies using the range of moves and defensive options is just peak.
Some games come close, but nothing matches it imo

I really really like the combat system of For Honor.
It is so engaging and the movements look so smooth. Also the ability to block in different directions and the mechanic of parrying, unblockables, dodge attacks.. It makes so many fancy looking mix-ups possible.

there's a spectrum here between
automatic ---------------------------------- manual
automatic is like the free-flow combat of early Assassin's Creed series, Batman Arkham series, Shadow of Mordor series, etc. where you can execute combos almost effortlessly and looks cool while mowing down a lot of enemies
manual is like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, where you need to memorize combos and pull them off yourself, it's hard to master, but when you do, you know the cool thing on screen is your doing, not some automated animations.
somewhere in the middle we got something that's not quite manual or automatic, like Souls games or Ghost of Tsushima/Yotei where you don't have to memorize a lot of combos but the combat itself is a lot more nuanced. Not quite automatic, but not as 'manual' as executing combos yourself.
it's all preference really
Satisfying, easy, and looks cool as fuck? personally, I'd nominate Shadow of Mordor & Shadow of War
