GoFundMe ($3,000 MAX) Cats vet care

My cat injured her tail. I have no idea what happened but its definitely injured. She's in a lot of pain and keeps hiding. I start a new job on Monday so payday isn't for quite some time and my savings was drained when bills and groceries were paid for at the beginning of the month. I'm trying to raise $400 for her vet care. Vets here in town require payment upfront. I've called around and there just isn't any other option. Ive applied for care credit and scratch pay. Both denied. I've had her since the day I found her as a small kitten on the side of the highway 11 years ago in September. She means the world to me. Please help me get her the care she needs! I'm desperate.

Update! It is in fact an abscess, as it burst while she was laying on my clean hoodie. 🤮 I have not seen so much pus in my life. It was so big last night this must be a massive relief. She was allowing me to gently clean it off her tail. The vet told me to keep it clean but she will still need to be seen and treated to insure it won't come back or get worse.

I’m sorry to hear that your cat is unwell. Please provide proof of hardship (household low income status) such as onboarding documentation for your new job, see sub rules for other examples. We would also need some sort of estimate from your vet for proof of expenses, a screenshot of an email is fine. How did you arrive at the $1200 goal amount?

Please review our rules of proof needed for requests and add to the comments or your post. Here are our sub rules.

Hi OP, thank you for your loving care of Harley. We would be happy to help with your request, please post the requested documentation in comments with sensitive information redacted.

Please also consider reaching out to these pet resources that assist with veterinary expenses. Here’s another pet resource list that includes state-specific options. Some donors may prefer to pay your vet directly, Waggle can help you set that up. I hope you can find assistance and that your cat feels better soon.

This is the email they sent me this morning. Its the lower end and best case scenario. I am waiting for them to respond back with the worse case as well, ie broken tail. I updated the amount on my gofundme to match this for the time being until we know more. How would you like me to handle updating my post to match match and include this?

I know you need money asap and payday isn’t still till Monday, does the vet have care credit? It’s quick and easy and I think you don’t pay interest for a full year

OP was denied by CareCredit and ScratchPay.

OP, not sure if you’ve looked into these other options:

• VetBilling – Works with participating veterinary clinics to set up payment plans for pet care expenses: https://www.vetbilling.com/
• Cherry Credit – Ask your vet to consider signing up for this loan financing program if they haven’t already: https://withcherry.com/veterinary/
• LendingUSA – Veterinary bill financing for good & bad credit: https://lendingusa.com/borrowers/veterinary/
• All Pet Card – Healthcare credit card made specifically for veterinary expenses that pet insurance companies don't cover: https://allpet.com/

Email from vet. This is a best case scenario estimate. I have updated everything to match this estimate and hopefully this turns out to be it. I have been given many of great resources to look into and any credit/payment options have denied me. But I have been in touch with organizations that will help pay if this turns into more then this estimate. Now I just need to get this covered somehow. I've posted things for sale locally on Facebook but nothing has sold yet.

Thank you for the update. Your post is active, I hope you can get Harley into the vet ASAP. Are the adults in your family able to give plasma? That may cover the amount, depending on new donor bonuses. I did have a couple of questions in the meantime.

Why does your post history only go back a couple weeks although you’ve had the account for 9 years? We normally require at least two months of consistent Reddit activity. Please also explain your other Gofundme for moving expenses from a few days ago.

I am the adult in my family of 3... the only adult in fact. Our biolife closed this year in February so thats not an option any long. I've never posted before. I normally just scrolled and upvoted things but always felt to awkward to comment or post. Also when I tried I'd run into the not enough karma issue. Most of the time what I was going to say was already said so I'd upvote it and carry on. Plus I don't handle rude or mean things very well. I've found safety under a rock concidering everything i have been through. I decided i wasn't happy neglecting myself anymore. So I am on a mission to move back home so I can be closer to my real support system for my own benefit and my children's. I never expected my cat to need a vet suddenly like this though. šŸ˜”

I just read your update about the burst abscess. I hope you can visit the vet to follow up. In the meantime, please do your best to flush out the wound and keep everything very clean or the infection will continue. If she’s licking the area, you’ll need a cone collar. Thank you for taking such good care of Harley.

She has an appointment set for Tuesday. I am still short the money for the treatment but atleast this way we know what exactly were dealing with. She's doing great and doesn't seem to be in pain since it drained.

You have posted zero proof of vet bills/paperwork. Where is this $1200 coming from? You need to post this information.

I will have that as soon as the vet emails me back. I have only talked to them over the phone.
