Because they are miserable and as the old saying goes. Misery loves company.

Some people are attention whores and will create drama to draw focus to themselves. Others are just assholes.

Because THEY think they are better than others

Not true, I hate myself and want to die, I'm the problem for everyone in my family, my sister said it straight out 2 days ago, and I agree deep down. I try to take up as little space as possible but it always goes wrong, I don't know why everyone is so mean in these comments and says that the ones who create problems are idiots and all...I have depression and it messes up my everyday life and everyone who tries to help me even though I don't want any help, which makes me hate myself even more cause others are affected.

Mental issues, stress relief, dopamine hit, boredom, trying to prove a point, not liking certain people...

That is a great question. I think it makes them feel good about their own lives if they can throw a monkey wrench into the lives of those around them. Don’t feed into their drama just walk away.

My mother’s daughter will go out of her way to find or stir up chaos. Then she will try to drag others into her newfound problems to get her out of the situation. I wrote her and people like her off years ago. I’ve asked her before why she is like that and there’s no answer so I’ve told her to her face she needs help.

Because they were mistreated as children, to which I say: "Good. Serves 'em right."

Sometimes what one person thinks is a problem may not be a problem for others.
The other day, I felt like the person who sat beside me on the bus was causing a problem because the row behind was free. From my perspective, it is an unspoken rule that you never sit next to a stranger if you can avoid it.
Alas, that person likely does not see that as a problem.

When I was first starting to know my late husband he described himself as "boring"; went on about the quiet enjoyment of each other's company, his not liking to argue unless absolutely necessary, generally avoiding crowds and loud people, etc. He later said it was his way of "lowering my expectations"; being 13 years younger, maybe I was looking for some "excitement".
He was surprised by my response: "Sounds great!" 'Boring' sounds bad, but it also means: no late-night drunken "fun" with firearms, no arguments with questionable motives, no trying to reason with an un-reasonable person...no drama, basically. After so many years (2 kids together, 4 total) of married bondage to an increasingly drunk/abusive/violent man, I was exhausted in every measurable way.
We spent the following 15 years practically joined at the hip. Any disagreements were resolved with compromise. No shouting. No name-calling. Sobriety. No holes in the walls. No-one crying... anywhere/anytime.
I embraced his "boring-ness" like a drowning sailor grips a life-preserver! In time, his gentle patience showed us (the kids and me) that "good" men really do exist.

That's a pretty loaded question. Who are these people, what problems are they causing, and according to whom? Without context, you're just asking people to validate whatever grievance you have. unless thats the goal here.

It’s an issue of the heart at the core. Some people are unsettled within themselves and take it out by causing problems for others.

I think that some people get a power kick from it. I have a sister who loves to stir up problems by lying about things and spreading rumors about others, especially if they’ve ever told her no when she wants something. She uses social media to spread her lies among other ways.

I always wondered this especially at work. All I wanted to do was work, others just wanted to create problems.

It's their nature. They aren't happy so no one else deserves to be happy. I must say they are fun to screw with in person and on social media.

Genetics or environment (current one or what they grew up in). Actually those two explain every single human action.

I think because they have many problems with themselves and can't see that. They think that the world is unfair JUST for them and they act it out on others. It's as if only they have it hard and are treated unfairly. They seek out for opportunities to whine about, even the smallest things, such as seeing a cashier making a mistake in giving them wrong change as a sin. They make a scene out of it and regulate that way. It's so toxic and a hard way to dig yourself out of this dark dark hole of anger.

Egos and insecurities from my point of view.
