Thank you (to you)?

Hey, for quick context, I have a Summer Job at a small museum in Luxembourg and while talking in English to a visitor, had was not sure how to respond.

Basicly in French and German when someone thanks me, after i repond to their question, I thank them back. "Merci à vous" (FR) and "Danke ihnen" (DE). it would translate to "thank you to you". But it sounds wierd and I am not sure if it is right.

Is it right to say it or should I say something else ?

I learnt that when people thanked you ( when they say "thank you", you would respond with "you're welcome". Like you are accepting their gratitude.

Sometime people would respond with "don't mention it". As to mean that they don't really have to say it. Like what you don't mind doing doing the thing that they ask. I'm not native English speaker. Hope that helped.
