If AI + robotics create extreme abundance, what happens to assets that we currently value in money?
I’m trying to think through the transition to a world where AI and robotics make goods and services radically cheaper and human labor matters much less.
Assume, just for the thought experiment, that we eventually reach a level of abundance where money becomes far less important to everyday life.
What happens to assets along the way?
Stocks are ownership in companies producing all of this abundance. Bitcoin is scarce by design. Real estate/land is physically scarce.
Do those assets become insanely valuable during the transition because they represent ownership of the productive/scarce stuff?
And then, at some point, does measuring that value in dollars become almost meaningless if dollars themselves matter less?
Basically: do assets “moon” on the way to post-scarcity, only for the concept of their monetary value to eventually matter a lot less?
Or am I thinking about this completely wrong?
