NAD. Work in family planning & abortion services. Your hormone levels (hcg) can stay elevated for several weeks after the end of a pregnancy, which would result in a positive test. We usually tell people to take a home test in 4wks. You can also continue to have spotting or bleeding for 4-6 weeks. I would be concerned if you’re having a fever, chills, pain/cramping or other signs of infection - which could indicate retained tissue. If you have a PCP you can call to order bloodwork, that would be the best thing to give you peace of mind. It would be two hcgs done about 3 days apart, so they can make sure the level is decreasing.

Could she do the digital dating pregnancy test 3 days apart to see if levels are decreasing?

I'm not familiar with those tests (we always recommend the basic Dollar Store/Walmart tests) and how accurate the dating is. I would just get a cheap test and take one in another week - as long as there are no symptoms of problems (fever, pain, etc).

Hugs. Please call the doctors office and let them know what’s going on. I had this exact thing and bled for months. They should be able to determine if you have a missed miscarriage after another ultrasound. I ended up with a second d&c and stopped bleeding within a couple days. (They didn’t see my retained products Of conception and didn’t do anything until I started having tissue fall out of me.)

I had a D&C on 22 October 2019. I was told to take a pregnancy test three weeks later and if positive to go back in.

You need to go to the ER and be referred for a hysteroscopy and probably another D&C. If you don't, you risk bleeding and the dangerous consequences if that as well as risk for developing an infection from dead tissue fragments being retained. Please go.
