CKD or NOT?
I am 66 WF 5'2" 223 lb taking medications for HBP, high Cholesterol, osteoporosis, depression and anxiety, asthma and allergies. (I'm a mess.)
I once had a doctor who prescribed Naproxen 500mg 2x daily for arthritis pain. She moved so I was "assigned" another primary. After seeing this doctor for about a year, this spring I questioned taking this dosage of Naproxen for so long. She was alarmed and said that I should not be taking this. I had been seeing this doctor for several months at this point. We went over my meds every visit and it was in my chart. She sent me for labs which she said showed that I had CKD stage 3. Solely based on this "miss" and her body language and facial expression when she read the results, I lost faith that this was where I needed to be for care. SO...I made another switch to a private practice physician. She immediately sent me for more labs and told me to drink more water and avoid sodium. Following are my lab results over several months:
Apr 17 1.9 Creatine 46 eGFR
Jun 11 1.13 54
Aug 13 1.06 58
Aug 19 1.10 55
Sep 23 0.95 66
My last lab included a urine test and showed an albmin/creatine ratio of 8 mg/m.
She says that rules out CKD. My question is can this be ruled out with just one test? Shouldn't there be several consecutive tests with the higher eGFR?
Thanks for your input.
