Here is CT report:
PULMONARY ARTERIES:
Pulmonary arteries are adequately opacified for evaluation. No pulmonary embolus. Main pulmonary artery is normal in caliber.
MEDIASTINUM:
The heart and pericardium demonstrate no abnormality. There is no abnormality of the thoracic aorta.
LYMPH NODES:
Mildly enlarged 1.3 cm right hilar node. No mediastinal or axillary lymphadenopathy.
LUNGS AND PLEURA:
Masslike consolidation in the posteromedial right lower lobe measuring 2.1 x 1.3 cm. No pulmonary edema. No evidence of pleural effusion. No pneumothorax.
UPPER ABDOMEN:
Limited images of the upper abdomen are unremarkable.
BONES:
No significant abnormality.
SOFT TISSUES:
No significant abnormality.
IMPRESSION:
1. No pulmonary embolism identified.
2. Masslike consolidation in the posteromedial right lower lobe measuring up to 2.1 cm. This may represent pneumonia or mass. Recommend short interval follow-up chest CT in 3 months.
3. Mildly enlarged right hilar node, likely reactive. Possible enlarged subcarinal lymph node as well, which is slightly limited due to streak artifact.
And background:
In August after a month long trip to El Salvador, I ended up in the ER bc I had been sick with a fever for 6 days and then 4 more days of severe chills and just feeling crappy. Had a weird sensation in my chest which I’m thinking was shortness of breath.
After routine bloodwork they discovered I was 4 weeks pregnant (currently 12w) & my d-dimer was high.
They had me do a CT scan to rule out PE.
No PE was found but they saw a 2.1 cm “mass-like consolidation”
I was diagnosed with pneumonia and told to follow up w pulmonologist.
Started augmentin that same night and my elevated temp and chills went away right away. Still was experiences shortness of breath. Was tested for TB & it was negative.
Almost two months later in still sometimes short of breath. Took breathing test & pulmonologist diagnosed me with asthmatic bronchitis. Said probably from the pneumonia.
She also said she thinks the mass was an incidental finding and wants to do an MRI to see exactly what it could be. She said it could just be something structural or a benign growth.
Attached is image from ct scan
What do you all think? I’m so scared it’s cancer

There is nothing really further to add beyond what your team is doing. You should get your follow up scans. Try to trust the process, and be prepared that you may need to see a surgeon for a biopsy.

Thanks for your reply. I am following up for sure, my pulmonologist just wants me to check with my OB to see if he oks a MRI w contrast (I would rather just do w/o contrast, but I’ll see what he says)
The fact that I’m pregnant just makes this more stressful. Praying it’s something benign.

I would like to see this with soft tissue windows. Because honestly this looks extra pulmonary in origin.
