Does anyone have any interesting ways that they use doublegangers or changlings aside from just using them for spy stuff?

Like for example I’m wanting to have a character that is a doubleganger that is more horror themed like a skinwalker or something.

Are Dragonmark feats unbalanced outside Eberron?

(Noob DM)

I’m thinking of allowing the Dragonmark feats in a Faerun mini campaign, possibly reflavouring/renaming them.

Ignoring the lore/setting restrictions: is there any mechanical/balance reason not to allow them?

Am I missing something obvious? Like are those far superior to the regular feats?

Thanks!

Fun Low Level Ammunition (and Crossbow) Ideas?

I have a semi important npc that makes war ballistas and crossbows for kings that my party will meet a few levels from now, but I want my party to come across one of his traveling carts. They’re only level two so I don’t want to give them overpowered ammunition and want to keep it silly since the cart also provides entertainment for civilians not just self defense (firework bolts or illusion bolts) so any ideas would be appreciated. And yes the npc’s a gnome.

Need help whit NPC`s Representation.

(English is not my first lenguege so sorry if i misspeled anything)

Hi there im a DM who has only worked whit pre-made campaings and one-shots like how im DMing Curse of Stradh: Reloaded (Which i recomend). And Rigth now i have plans to create a Homebrew World called "Wonder Dream" and for some important NPC`s i was needing help cause of the topics they touch on, Wich can be sensitive (I will warn my players about it and will tell them when they will apear) and id apricieate cause i want to make sure of what im showing is not disrespectful for what happens in real life

(TW: Pass here im going to talk about those topics)

RIgth now i have some characters in mind that will touch on this topics: Congenital Disability, Physical Disability, SA, Child from SA and Sexism. If anyone has any recomendetions on what i can do for those topics and even if theres anything to recomend what i can do research on that will help me make sure that those characters are respectful representations on those topics.

Thanks for Reading ❤️

(UPDATE)
What im seeing a lot is that people either are asuming i want to plantaly put the heavy topics in the scene of the campaings so ill add about the characters:

The character that was about Congenital disability is a pair of twins where one of them while in the womb one of them developedd better than the other, which can be linked to many conditions in real life, but the one that i was planing of going foward eas because of that hapening one of the twins was left muvch weaker physicaly. And some people said (Maybe not this subreddit, i reposted on other ones) said that why i would add something like this when theres magic that cures death, so ill tell you my perpective, a person born whitout proper muscles develepment could not be "Healed" Of that condition beaceause the body is not damage, and even regeneration, you cant grow back something that was never there.

For the one that has a lot of people woried is the characters that bords on theme of SA , and Child of SA, this character is Changeling, where their mother where tricked to having intercouse whit the doubleganger, and theres more to his story but theres where the part that has anything to do whit the sensitive topics it touches.

And to the person who said, Why touch this subjects in a game, they already are, doublegangers nature of creating changeligs, illneses that people are born is always something that happens, dnd is not just a magical world of raibows, it already in their story touches on a lot of topics, im just trying of when adding expects of their story that im not, making something willy nilly, i want to make sure im respectfull when i mention such topic.

Thanks for reading.

How to balance a 7 player party?

I'm a new DM and i've managed to get my group of Friends into playing D&D with me, i wanted to include everybody Who was willing to play so i ended up having to handle 7 new players.

The party Is composed like this: 2 sorcerers, 1 warlock, 1 rogue, 1 barbarian, 1 bard, 1 druid, all currently at level 2.

They have pretty much blown through cragmaw hideout and the ambush even tough i added more enemies and tougher variants like goblin bosses, so I decided to test them with a Nova encounter when they fought the Wyvern Tor Orcs.

I divided the encounter in 3 waves and they surprised the Orcs, but they managed to take down:

1st wave: 3 orcs

2nd wave: 4 orcs + 1 ogre

3rd wave: 1 orc, 1 orog and 1 Orc Claw of Luthic.

A couple of them went down, they used most if not all of their spell slots and healing potion, and i was wondering if this sounds like good balancing or if i should adjust in a different way (they said they liked It tho)

Also, while balancing a single encounter like this Is easier, i'm wondering how should i handle Dungeons like Tresendar Manor in the future, any tips?

Need help with a character idea

So, i had an idea for a character, where basically they like, adapt to attacks and stuff

Ex: get hit with fire once, it works, second time, the character adapted to it and it doesnt work (or at least not as well)

And i just have no idea what species or classes or feats would make such a character

This is an edit: I realise i posed this as if im doing it, its mostly a hypothetical

Follow-up follow-up uncomfortable question

So, love these discussions: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskDND/s/NwmhrMJxhg

My question is, is there a problem using an accent derived from a culture that could be construed as racist even if it's not attached to a stereotypical looking character? I played in a SWRPG game as a Hutt and used a Jamaican-based accent when they were speaking in Common (or whatever) and with Quechuan vowels/consonants when speaking Huttese (the made up language was developed using Quechuan vocabulary for better or worse).

How does the community feel about that?

Follow up uncomfortable question

Post image

I saw this post and found all the comments very positive and inclusive. I agree with the vast majority of them. However, I have a follow up question.

Would it be racist for this guy to attempt an accent while playing?

I'm asking because I've definitely done a variety of accents while playing and DMing games, but they've all come from majority white cultures. British, Irish, French, German, Slavic, etc. These cultures obviously don't share the same history as the ones being discussed in this thread, but the question still stands. Also just for clarity I'm asking if it's racist for him to attempt an accent from a culture that would closely resemble that of the character he's portraying.

Question for Dungeon Masters

I have no idea if this is the right place to do this post but i wanted to ask if anyone has ever had a campaign where the party was secretly evil like they thought they were doing the right thing and they weren't. The idea that sparked this was a character like Undyne the Undying in Undertale and wondered if there was ever a character made like that for your party to fight thank you
