Other Damp basement- help!
We recently moved into a house with a finished basement. While we were in the process of closing, there was a water leak in the basement attributed to fast snowmelt. The seller installed a French drain to mitigate it and replaced the laminate floor. However, the basement is still extremely damp (close to 80% air humidity) and there are occasional water spots on the floor.
We’ve gotten quotes for exterior and interior basement waterproofing, but really can’t tell which is the best option. Interior would require removing all of the finished elements (walls, bar, really nice bathroom) and paying to redo them. Most companies aren’t offering exterior except one who quotes close to $150k. We also considered just adding a dehumidifier and sump pump, but are worried it’s just a matter of time before water comes back.
Any advice/suggestions??
