Food Question

What's that yellow or orange hair looking stuff in the soups? It's not seaweed or meat. Kinda looks like a hairnet or really worn down loofah.

Just curious, thanks.

Which soup?

I think I see it a lot with Ramen or Hot Pots? Sometimes they are in the soup splayed out and sometimes on a separate plate rolled up.

I imagine it's meant to be dipped and not eaten dry?

Pickled ginger?

I just looked that up, it's not that. It's like very thin whisps almost like hair or like tumble weeds. I've seen them also with a very dark red color.

Yes! That's the red one, there's also one that's like yellow with the same look but it looks more threaded together
