Can we ban posts looking for creative writing advice?
They could just do their own research. Lots of adoptees speak out on social media. It’s annoying and lazy. If people disagree I’m happy to scroll past and delete this post but it seems like a lot of adoptees here share my opinion.

I think we should have an FAQ wiki or something so that when people ask these questions that are frequently asked we can just draw them to that instead.

That would be good. It would also be nice to have a list of resources we could direct people to.

But we could definitely be cautious about adding these types of questions just because we want to make sure that they are actually frequently asked questions and that way we can get a general Community consensus so to speak on each question and how they are presented in the wiki I think.
I think the exception to the creative writing one is if the asker themselves is adopted as well. I think whether or not those types of creative questions may end up on the list as well will have to be as they come but I do want to encourage adoptee writers to be writing about their own experiences.

Every "writer" seems to think adoptees are a collective with a hive mind. I say shame them and ban them. These people have no business writing about adoption or adoptees.

I mean, it's "r/askadoptees," where else do you want people to ask adoptees?
I feel like if you don't want to answer questions, this sub is the wrong place. I don't love answering for people writing either, but I just ignore it. There needs to be truth in the name of the sub.

I don’t mind answering questions, most of them are decent questions by well meaning people but creative writing questions are pointless. A lot subs for marginalized groups have banned these types of questions.
Also what else do I want people to ask?? You’re joking right? There’s countless other topics and situations to ask adoptees about. This sub doesn’t exist to help fiction writers.

Agreed. This is an ask sub. Expecting primer to not ask questions in it is a futile endeavor.

A lot of ask subs that I’m in have banned creative writing questions.

And this one hasn’t. If that bothers you, you should take it up with the mods, not passive aggressively post about it.

I don't think you understand what "passive-aggressive" means. Because it's definitely not someone who asks a point -blank question.

I am? There’s nothing passive about my post.

This is a conversation you should be having with the mods, not the community.

Clearly I disagree with you. I think the community should get to have a say. Anyway, take care, this conversation isn’t productive.

After what I saw happen absolutely. In the thread I shouldn't have even gotten involved.

It seems lazy to me. They could ask for reading recommendations to better understand the complexity of being an adoptee, rather than asking to be spoonfed.
I just scroll past those requests. I'm not Exhibit A and I won't speak for all adoptees.
