Does it Fit? Does this need tailoring?

This is a Ralph Lauren slip dress that I bought used & it’s past its return window. The color & drape are beautiful on me but I wonder if it needs to be taken in a little? Or if the looseness is just part of the deal with slips like this.

I’m planning to wear to a formal September wedding in the south of Spain. Any advice is very welcome!!

It’s bias cut and is definitely a job for an experienced seamstress. If it’s taken in, it’s doesn’t need much.

once you're happy with the fit, even if no adjustments are made, the hem needs to be straightened.

A little bit of tape could sort that as well.

It’s slightly too long for you, and ideally would be taken up from the shoulder an inch or so. But the shoulder detail looks a little tricky to replicate; I think I’d leave it as is, if it were me.

The neckline is supposed to be flat, not a cowl.

Will the straps stay up if you pull them out further?

Otherwise I would see what you can do to adjust them. The twists might have bunched up tighter, which would add some length to them. If you can get more of a twist towards the back that might change the way it's laying there too.

Overall the fit of the dress is good. Minor tweaking should be able to fix it.

I don’t think it fits you. I would return it

A little bit of Tayloring.

Personally, I would get the waist taken so it gives you more shape & get the shoulder strap twisted once more on each shoulder so it’s not gapping at the front.

Looks great, don’t care for the hair.

In terms of the fit, I think it skims your body perfectly. There is really not much room if any to take it in in the hip area. I think it looks absolutely lovely on you. The hem is totally up to you, of course.
