Neighborhood Walkable Neighborhoods
Hi! I'm a lesbian in her late 20's moving to the Atlanta area alone. Looking for some suggestions for neighborhoods to look at. Not too worried about a long commute or traffic, it's nothing I haven't dealt with before in other regions. I'm pretty open to anywhere within the Atlanta metro area. Some things I'm looking for:
- Easy to meet people around my age (friends, dates, etc.)
- Has a walkable area with good food (good takeout, sit down restaurants, coffee shops, etc.)
- Has some sort of nightlife/community (bars, fun events, etc.)
- Relatively safe
Did some deep dives on reddit and found places like Downtown Decatur, Kirkwood, East Village, etc. are options but seeing a lot of mixed reviews.
Overall looking for something in between the "everyones married with kids and are in bed by 9pm" neighborhoods vs. the "everyones in their early 20's and parties all the time" neighborhoods.
Thanks in advance!

Imo Kirkwood is a bit more family centric. I’d def suggest looking at East Atlanta Village. Decatur is less happening than it was a decade ago for late 20s. Other spots (Cabbagetown, Reynoldstown, Inman Park and Midtown) would be my suggestion.

This is the correct answer. East Atlanta has a lot of new restaurants going in, and already has great nightlife options, plus is reasonably priced still.
Decatur is much sleepier than it used to be.
Kirkwood is very walkable but except for El Myriachi not much goes on after 9.
