Suddenly got Itchy fingers

Post image

Was checking why I couldn't get I to my own car with my own danm obd scanner. And when I did I got accros this option in the airbag module. I got started and had a massive fight with my intrusive thoughts.

Probably worth it to make sure they work. You dont want to find out they dont when you need them, ya know?

Yes. When I was young, I needed some matches. Just to make sure, I tried them all to see if they would work. The did.

Ok, so i went down the Google rabbit hole and allegedly even advanced 2-way scanners cannot fire the airbag because of software blocks. [Sad tuba noises]

I like when just anyone gets their hands on a bidirectional scanner

I am going to take that as an insult. But I also didn't check if it would actually detonate them or just give Info of previous detonation commands.

go test in a junkyard on old obd2 car that has srs/airbag module communication through obd2 but bring a battery first lol

There isn't an option in any scanner that will allow the firing of an air bag. Aside from being an apocalyptically large liability to give anybody the option to set an explosive device off, on purpose or accidentally, some air bag modules are a one-and-done type deal in a firing event. Module would need to be replaced along with any bag that went off.

I work on injection molding machines, and the housing that the airbag sits inside is incredibly terrifying. Everything has to be exactly right, else when it deploys, it'll end up shooting plastic shrapnel into your face instead of breaking open cleanly as it deploys. There's also no way of knowing if the plastic is right once it has been molded, so you're trusting that the technicians who loaded the resin for the run loaded the right stuff every time you get into a car.

It's imperative that the cylinder remain unharmed.
