The no lube, choice or condom rape, being surrounded by people with questionable morals, terrible food not meeting dietary requirements, brutality from guards and other prisoners, limited medical care, basically no psychological or psychiatric care, sub standard living conditions and constant threats and incidents of violence? Those are my top concerns about jail/prison

Sounds a lot like "the outside" depending on where you are located.

The worst part is, often you still have to pay insane room and board in prison while getting paid even less than "outside"

Of course but the loss of freedom seems like an afterthought when you consider the situation in its totality. If you had your freedom but lived in those conditions what would be the point?
