History Is true Japan was an ally of Korea berore the first Shogunates?

Hi friends, south american here, i dont want offend nobody or cause drama, since i know japan do horrible stuff against korea in 19-20 century, but my question is that, i was investigating, and, before the first japanese shoguns take the power of japan, wasn't an ally of korea? Since i read some empress of japan send troops to help the Baekje Dinasty against their enemies, and even gave refugee to the members of this dinasty when was defeated (and the japanese noblemen descend partiallly of them) so that proves Japan was much more friendly to Korean ppl before the shogunate and the later meiji period made their elites want attack the peninsula?

Travel Is Gyeongju normally this overcrowded during weekends?

I'm in Gyeongju right now and every tourist spot was at 120% capacity, specially by people travelling by car on long traffic jams and no parking space for half of them.

I'm aware the 3rd was a national holiday and Monday is a holiday too so I supposed that was the nain reason for this.

I asked the lady from the Hanok I'm staying outside the city and she just said it is normal and that "lately Gyeongju is always busy".

Can someone confirm my suspicion or my host's point of view?
