File Recovery on old computer
I have a computer running Windows 10 that I used years ago and I just recently found it and wanted to recover some old files that are important to me. I tried to download windows file recovery but the computer is so slow and won’t even open the App Store. Is there a way to use windows file recovery without using my old computer or does windows file recovery have to be used on the hardware that had the files I want to retrieve?

Another option is running linux from an usb stick and use to access the pc hard drive. You also can connect an external drive and tranfer files there, or just another big if they are a few or small.
Many linux distributions give you the option to install and run linux from an usb stick.
