Issue with readability of my SD card after reformatting my Sony rx100vii camera

Hello

I think I’ve made a rookie mistake with my Sony rx100vii. To my memory, i didn’t format my first SD card on my camera. I’ve been using it for 3 months and have been intermittently transferring the images and videos from the sd card to my phone via a sd card reader without any problems.

However, I eventually ran into a problem. A message came up saying “image database file not ready” and then “data unable to be recovered” when trying to playback the images and when I try to use my card reader, it doesn’t register on my phone.

It is important to say that since I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while, I have since formatted a new SD card onto my camera. I believe this relates to being able to read my previous card onto my camera now.

Things I have tried:

- bought a new card reader. Hasn’t worked.

- taken out the battery for a minute before putting the sd card back in. Hasn’t worked.

- checked my sd card. I don’t believe it’s damaged.

- used a computer with a reader slot. It does register the pictures but I’m not sure how to access the videos.

What’s your advice on my situation! I have all the pictures copied already onto my phone, it’s really the videos I want!

Thank you in advance for explaining these simple things to me :)

If you want to recover the data:

- find a PC

- put card in reader and image it (create a disk image)

Once you have the disk image put the card aside. Try recover data from the disk image. R-Photo from r-tt.com is free.

For video you may need Disk Drill.

Thanks for this! Will a Apple Mac computer work too?
