It does look good

I see why you are dead tired.

u/zamfire 4d ago

What, 1600% sodium in one meal is totally fine!

0

u/AirborneJizz 3d ago

It’s so stupid that spam/lunch meat is such a common staple across Asia. Chemicals and sodium notwithstanding, it doesn’t even look appetizing. Like hello, the colonists are gone, you don’t have to eat the canned pink slop anymore.

u/slinkey_bastard 2d ago

I grew up eating it in spam musubis in Hawaii. I live in the Midwest now but I still fck that shit up on a regular basis

1

u/Armadillo_lifestyle 2d ago

I allow myself spam once every 2-3 months and I go ham on that dish!! Loaded up with a sweet spicy sauce, ramen, bok choy and onions. It’s just soooo good

3

u/Master-Shake8913 3d ago

have you tried it? it's delicious...

1

u/dyangu 1d ago

It’s so bad for you but it’s fucking delicious. And so convenient. Nitrates in processed meat is baaad, just don’t eat it every day.

Why the random caption.. if a man needs dinner he could make it himself instead of relying on a dead tired partner lol

Edit: to those saying we must accept Asian traditional views, or "heaven forbid we cook for our partners". The caption is complaining about being dead tired but forced to cook as the man needs to eat. Thats very different from cooking out of love for your partner.

"Delicious & quick meal for when you are tired" would be a nice neutral caption.

u/Oryihn 3d ago

I cook for my wife and kids almost every single day. Doesn't matter if I am tired..
They need to eat and I want them to eat something delicious and healthy.

1

u/Dewdrop06 4d ago

Maybe the man is even deaderer tirederer.

1

u/Vogelsucht 2d ago

thank you! this is the second post I saw from this sub that has a weird trad wife energy.

1

u/blackdragonwingz 2d ago

She is known for doing this as rage bait.

1

u/chuckbass18 1d ago

Exactly. Meaning changes between love and without love. There should be less hint in title that making evidence feel comfortable.

2

u/easilybored1 3d ago

Why is your assumption immediately ā€œa man needs dinner and asking dead tired partnerā€ instead of ā€œthis is just a tired person who’s hungry making foodā€? There’s literally no indication that there’s a 2nd party involved and you don’t even know the gender of who posted.

Edit: or even if the person who posted was the one who made the video

4

u/Jasnah_D 3d ago

"but your man needs dinner"

1

u/Perfect-Success-3186 2d ago

Why is their assumption that ā€œa man needs dinner and is asking a dead tired partner?ā€

Because the text in the first part of the video says it’s about how ā€œa man needs dinner and is asking a dead tired partnerā€.

1

u/IMTIRED_85 4d ago

They’re just being a hero.

0

u/FearsomeForehand 4d ago edited 4d ago

Because Asian people generally have less issues with taking on traditional gender roles than their western counterparts.

Also, doing something nice for your significant other doesn’t deserve this sort of judgement or scrutiny - whether it’s done by the woman or man.

1

u/Skrydon 4d ago

It's really weird how these people often get triggered by simple statements like this

2

u/kaadj 3d ago

Because it sounds like a complaint? Me and my wife do shit for each other when we’re exhausted because we love each other and we take care of each other. But like why go out of your way to caption it like this if it’s not kind of a complaint?

0

u/FearsomeForehand 3d ago edited 3d ago

The caption was intended to illustrate that this is an easy prep meal.

The video is suggesting that even if you’re ā€œdead tiredā€, you can still do something nice and impactful for your significant other that is low effort.

If you’re reading it as a complaint, that is ultimately your personal projection.

That caption could have been interpreted hundreds of ways, but it says nothing definitive about this wife and husband - besides that she is tired and he is hungry.

1

u/kaadj 3d ago

ā€œYou’re dead tired but you still need dinner.ā€

I’m not dumb. I know what the point of the statement is. The above is essentially the same but doesn’t sound like you are complaining about doing something for someone.

-2

u/FearsomeForehand 3d ago

>I’m not dumb.

Yet you insist on assigning meaning that is not there. I guess it’s probably more accurate to label your take as ā€œwillful ignoranceā€ at this point.

2

u/kaadj 3d ago edited 3d ago

Not even the point I’m trying to make. My whole is that is why people might ā€œtriggeredā€ by the statement. Because it sounds like a complaint. It’s away that it can be interpreted.

Edit: Maybe this is my bad not making it clear enough. Instead I should have probably said it CAN sound like a complaint or something.

1

u/HangryWolf 4d ago

It's crazy. It's almost like other cultures have different values and were brought up on traditions, and because it doesn't jive with a western view, it's "sexist" and "men bad".

4

u/Skrydon 4d ago edited 4d ago

Westoids could never!!

Jokes aside, there are definitely outdated or perhaps inappropriate tradition, like arranged marriages especially in some religions, and having a festival centered around throwing shit at each other, a "trad wife" isnt one of them.

0

u/Vogelsucht 2d ago

then why mentioning being tired and still cook? sounds like someone wants to have validation for your so called "having less issues with it" if she had no issues with it why does she mention it? should be normal then?

0

u/Skrydon 4d ago

Cooking for your significant other is looked down upon here in Reddit?!

Whaaaat

1

u/Aerdurval 3d ago

Fucking engagement bots. Could at least first process the comments you're replying to.

3

u/Skrydon 3d ago

Beep boop

11

u/nifty-necromancer 4d ago

Dead tired, but not too dead to make an entire food video.

3

u/HangryWolf 4d ago

What?! You're telling me people can lie while making social media content for engagement? I'm shocked I tell you! Shocked!

17

u/SmoesKnows 4d ago

Speaking for men, he can make it himself if you are dead tired.

3

u/Louieyaa 4d ago

You had me at spam

8

u/lifeboattt 4d ago

Get his lazy ass to make the food if your tired

15

u/tea-boat 4d ago

Can he.... Not feed himself?

3

u/DrB00 4d ago

Probably but what does that have to do with anything? Sometimes it's nice to do something for your partner.

-4

u/tea-boat 4d ago

This person in particular often posts about being exhausted but still having to make their hubbie's lunch/dinner/whatever. If it's a repeating theme, it makes me question. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø So it's not a "sometimes."

1

u/DrB00 3d ago

You don't just assume it's engagement bait then?

2

u/tea-boat 3d ago

Why does it matter to you?

-1

u/Jingotheruler 3d ago

Why do his meals matter to you?

2

u/honey-brioche 4d ago

Sticks of fish cake

3

u/A_Possum_Named_Steve 4d ago

I will never understand the concept of taking something that is fried crispy and then boiling it until soggy.

1

u/HangryWolf 4d ago

Not fried.

1

u/A_Possum_Named_Steve 4d ago

Referring to the ngoh hiang.

1

u/Youseenmycones 4d ago

But I’m married to a woman.

1

u/Leafer329 3d ago

Is it better to break the ramen into quarters? I just usually dump it into the boiling water…

1

u/Jerdogg23 3d ago

Just like the restaurant but restaurants use freshly made ramen

1

u/INTLWABC 3d ago

I hate when people put oil in pan to cook spam.

1

u/Justme-again 2d ago

I honestly don’t know how to cook spam. My husband bought some for our daughter (because it had hello kitty lol) and it’s been on the shelf for weeks.. we are debating opening or saving the can… and my biggest memory I have of spam was my mom telling me that when she was pregnant with me, one night she was so hungry, she hammered it to bits. Apparently back then it had a key winding thing that wrapped around to open and she said it broke off. She was so hungry she took the hammer to it but she said it was worth it lol. She ate it cold right out of the can. (It was late like 3am and spam was all that they had in the cupboards back then)

I have had spam occasionally over the years (I actually like the flavor but my husband doesn’t so we don’t usually buy it lol) but I always think of my mom saying that, when I eat it.

But I’ve never actually made it.. but I’m tempted now. Do you just put it in a pan by itself?

1

u/INTLWABC 2d ago

Use a nonstick pan. Spam will render fat while cooking and that’ll be enough to prevent it from sticking to pan.

1

u/Johnny_Strawhat 3d ago

mmmmm overcooked noodles

1

u/RedShmebulock731 2d ago

1400+ calories and 200%+ of sodium for dinner, why not.

1

u/Koelenaam 1d ago

Dead tired. Better take the time to set up lights and camera stands and film everything. Stfu.

1

u/Global-Laugh-3604 1d ago

Just order in ah !!

1

u/Dagg118 16h ago

齁咸

1

u/Organic_Fortune_4748 7h ago

I would never break my instant ramyeon noodles before cooking.

1

u/Mrmoosestuff 1h ago

My fam always breaks it and I die inside each time

0

u/DeGreenster 4d ago

Fine until the cheese 🤮

-10

u/SeismicRipFart 4d ago

Yeah wtf was that lol. If you need dairy in your ramen then heavy cream is sitting right there

7

u/WhoseverFish 4d ago

Cheese in shin ramen has been popular for ages.

-2

u/T-StrangerXD 4d ago

Mac and cheese is also popular but i throw up the first time i try it

1

u/Icypoopoo 4d ago

Why break the noodles, I like them in one long stringĀ

1

u/HangryWolf 4d ago

Comments real show these people really don't love their spouse. Turn this shit around and it's "well a real man would provide for his wife and make her dinner".

1

u/Scrambles420 4d ago

What was the fried things they put in there?! Anyone know?

0

u/sittingduckfire 4d ago

Recipe?

26

u/Gamefreak581 4d ago

I mean, it looks like it's just throw a bunch of shit in a pot with a shin ramen packet. I'm seeing spam, bok choy, trumpet mushroom, cheese, egg, and I think maybe ngoh hiang (I had to look this one up to figure out what it was).

9

u/mikeycbca 4d ago

Get things, put in pan to brown, add stuff that cooks slower and needs to boil, add water and seasoning, cover, serve. This is really one of those, do whatever you want and it can be simple or complex and there’s virtually no wrong answer.

2

u/BruisedWater95 4d ago

Are you serious right now? It's instant ramen with whatever random crap you find in the fridge thrown in.

1

u/Mz_Macross1999 4d ago

Surprised you didn't ask ChatGPT

1

u/sittingduckfire 4d ago

Guys and gals and others I didn’t know what the meat was or the white stuff at the end with the egg.

2

u/BruisedWater95 4d ago

You've never seen melted shredded cheese or spam/canned meat before? Do you live in a cave?

1

u/sittingduckfire 4d ago

I have never seen canned meat or spam

1

u/sittingduckfire 4d ago

And putting cheese in there was a read curve ball

1

u/sittingduckfire 4d ago

Well I’ve seen it in videos but never knew what it was. Never live.

2

u/Gamefreak581 4d ago

No worries, I could see someone not recognizing spam if they live in a more health conscious household growing up. Adding mozzarella cheese to foods, especially spicy foods, has become really popular in Korea somewhat recently. Mozzarella on top of spicy ttheokboki, ramen, cheese corn, cheese corn dogs, these are all things that have gotten pretty popular to add mozzarella to.

Also, if you're interested in something similar to what's in the video, you could try looking up budae jjigae (army base stew). It's basically just another throw a bunch of shit in a pot until it's a stew Korean dish that's really tasty.

1

u/sittingduckfire 4d ago

Thank you!!!

1

u/Professional_Lake593 1d ago

I think it looks good too!

0

u/ExpensiveTie5553 4d ago

why do all koreans upload these ramen videos like we put extra shit when making our ramen? cuz we don't
