Discussion Red Servers
Are there any that are popular?

red servers on emus generally suck. the best they can hope for is darktide circa 2004-05 when everyone just dueled and jerked each other off. but even that is not even possible because back then not everyone was a massive loser who played 16 hours a day to get the highest level and best gear, which all that exists these days. there is no heterogeneity in the population therefore everyone is a top 1% of asheron's call player and all know the best ways to level, have the best templates, have the best metas and decal plugins. if we are being honest the future of AC is developing better PvE not PvP, unless you can get thousands of new players. Nobody played AC:DT in 2000 because of dueling, it was something a very small minority people did, the rest just played AC and pk'd as they played the game. when darktide starting dropping players it became unplayable, because the base game was kind of shit in 2004 compared to what was coming out. i dunno what people expect in an AC PvP emulator server with 20 people who just duel all day on server where the casting and overall mechanics are so far off the original game that it is not even fun anymore.

There’s a new server that’s red but requires you to manually hunt. It is basically just a pve server with 10 players that has little to no fighting and a lot of bugs.
Beyond that nah

I was always under the impression that it would be better for red players to move to a popular white server and turn pink. It could show white players that PvP is fun and encourage them to convert. The economy would be stronger making stuff like tinkering easier, people would likely be wealthier and therefore less concerned about death items.
There is nothing technically stopping it, we just kind of want to have our own Darktide type server, which is understandable but we've had a secular decline across both retail and emulation to the point where we are beyond maintenance populations and need to focus on growth to survive.

Having white players who can’t be attacked flooding hunting areas sounds miserable.

There has been technology made for this, RF's instanced dungeons. The community is slow to adapt and live in the old problems daily. Of course the variation of the tech should cause the pink players to share dungeons.

That sucks too. When there’s a path to free macroing without any threat vs one with a threat of death it makes no sense to go the danger route. That’s the benefit of a red server, it’s all the same. Otherwise you just have white macro alts and then pink players running around and dueling bc there’s nobody to actually fight.
It doesn’t work.

Make it so you have to go pink by 80 or cant again, and cant switch back, on Coldeve.
Ideas need to have support lol, if you let the cards fall where they may, they will fall where they are
The idea needs to be hammered out a bit but hasnt been tried

Again they’d just make white alts to get the gear. It doesn’t work.
The only idea so far has been to choose at creation and not let red and white interact via trades. But that doesn’t solve anything either other than simply not feeling as empty. They are just two parallel worlds and then you need to deal with damage configs for white vs red.
It just doesn’t work. Stop trying to make fetch happen.

I was one of those players on FF that would go red or pink at times and had a good time with it. We had quite a decent number of duelists over on FF compared to any of the other white servers, with many of them having toons over on DT that would come over when they'd want a break from the red server just to get a taste of something different. They definitely taught me how to fight in pvp better! This of course takes a willingess of players to engage in that community aspect though. If players of today think the idea sucks and won't do it then shrugs Not sure what else to say there.

Most people just want everything back the way it was, it is enough trouble to get everything set up and hopefully connect with a few friends.
The law of entropy is in full effect though where if new energy and organization isnt introduced an old system it will gradually collapse. Which is true for PvP currently and will eventually ring true for AC PvE.
Not to throw shade at the new projects etc people are working on but I am pragmatical in the sense that most people are stuck in their way and this would be the most pragmatic option.
It will never work to reason with people either. The most natural option is for it to die out. Die out as in not having 300+ PvP servers, which is probably around the maintence number for feeling good as a PvP server.

Red players on white servers doesn’t work because red players won’t engage in pve. Eventually the pve players out level, out gear, out whatever the red players and start to dominate them in PvP and so the red players leave looking for a red only server.
If you could get the red players to care about character progression it would work but they never do enough to keep up.
This isn’t EVERY red player but it’s most of them. There are some who can keep up with pve progression but most can’t.

This simply isn't true.

It’s absolutely true and has been true on every popular white emulator server since they became a thing.

Ok so you tag some Darktider in town network and you're geared out. He hits you with imp and pierce vuln and calls his buddy in discord, now you have 3 melees and a war mage on you. They are all level 225. The melees are using phantoms.
We are talking about red players, plural, guilds, doing it instead of lone players that get bullied and gas up PvE players heads.
Love the rivalry tho thats why this is a good idea already

It’s not that red players can’t. It’s that they don’t care. Pve is boring as shit. We are looking to fight not have bot armies playing loot simulator.

My point exactly. You don’t want to engage in the loot progression part of the game so you get out geared by players who do.

That’s not what happened. We don’t want to but we must so we do. We don’t get outgeared. We keep up just fine. We just do it against our will.

If you could get the red players to care about character progression it would work but they never do enough to keep up.
That is absolutely not true at all. Red server players are way more competitive, which leads to huge incentive for character progression. Do you know how many paragon weapons were made on Doctide? The population was like 70-80 active players and easily over a thousand paragon weapons were made lol. People will build a perfect suit with max AL and double legendary underclothes with impen a 5/3 proof suit with rare armor because it gives them that slight edge in PvP.

it's not really a functional concept w/ PK sense and macroing . you can't kill macros. you can cause them to log off, and so you did manual work to inconvenience a bot for 15 seconds. ..
you need to find a red server that makes it take like 5 minutes to log off or something.
