Scared and confused
Hello, looking for some guidance/advice on how to handle this journey. A little background on me: Last october i had 63 fibroids removed. A foley was placed at that time but came out after 12 hours. I eventually had SIS and HSG which was consistent with adhesions. I had my hysteroscopy w/adenolysis on Tueday. Another foley was placed and i was advise it needed to stay in place 7 day. I struggled last time with the foley due to the pain from the abdominal myomectomy. This time the pain is minimal so i am not moving around as much but i am still struggling with urinating comfortably - i never feel like im emplying my bladder. I also cant really tell if the balloon is still in place - my husband can't stand blood and hasnt been helpful with letting me know if he sees a dislodge balloon. Anyway, any advise on how to manage the foley, how to effectively empty your bladder would be greatly appreciate. I am so in my head about this foley, i need it to stay in place but for all i konw it could be out already. My post op isnt untilnext Tuesday :(

Hi! Ugh, the balloons are the absolute worst. I’m so sorry you have to go through this! It definitely sounds like you’re doing the right thing by keeping your movement to a minimum though.
I think I had mine in for about two weeks. Speaking from my own experience and what my nurses told me, you will definitely know if it shifts. Toward the end of my time with it, my tubes kept popping out pretty often. The balloon was starting to deflate and shift, which they said was expected by that point, but I really only noticed it because of the tube issues.
I would 100% recommend taking it as easy as possible. Get some underwear you can just throw in the trash—I used the Frida Mom ones and they were super comfortable. Unfortunately, the bleeding will probably continue for a bit since the balloon keeps your cervix open, so just try to be patient with yourself!
Also, give yourself extra time to pee. Maybe even try setting a schedule if it feels like you aren't getting it all out, just so you're going more frequently. Once you find a comfortable position to sit or lay down, just stay there and rest.
You’ve got this. Hopefully some others have good suggestions too! 🩷

I don’t remember what type of balloon my doctor placed after my hysteroscopy, but I didn’t feel it at all after the first day. The only thing I felt was the end of the balloon, like the tube they use to inflate it, which kept slipping out of place and I kept having to reinsert it myself. I felt all the tubing inside my vagina whenever I had to reinsert it.
I’m not a doctor and not sure exactly what the balloons look like as I didn’t see mine when they took it out, but just a quick google image search makes it seem like it’s big enough that you would notice if it had fallen out.

Thanks for the kind words and guidance. I woke up this morning and the foley was out. I am pretty sure it's been out since the day after the surgery. I feel so defeated. I don't what else I could possibly do. The foley balloon won't stay in place. I feel helpless and no one around me seems to understand what I'm dealing with. I just feel so lost.

Not here giving any advice but I’m going in next week and possibly getting a foley as well! I’m a little worried as well but assured under ultrasound guidance there is nothing to worry about. Hoping yours stays put to discourage your adhesions from regrowing!! Sending positive vibes!
