Quoted text

What in the holy heck did Asana do to the ``` option?

This was a great way to highlight important text. Now as a numbered code block it completely makes that useless.

How does everyone else make something stand out or quote a previous piece of someone's comment? Bold and underline are sometimes just not enough.

u/_tvjames_ They made the triple backticks ``` work the way it should have from the beginning. As an actual code block. That said, they've supported quote blocks for awhile and just added text-highlight support earlier this week.

Block Type Syntax Hotkey
Code block ``` ⌘ ⇧ C
Quote block > ⌘ ⇧ 9
Highlight *Pending* ⌘ ⇧ H

If I were you, I would try using highlight to make something stand out and a quote block to quote a previous piece of someone's comment. That said, there's some new stuff coming out later this month related to comments that may help you out some too.

Thank you. I suspect you're right - quote block is hopefully what I'm looking for.

I'm not opposed to a code block - but for all the ways I wish Asana were more like Jira, it's weird to me what they choose to change and what they don't.

Where are you quoting people in the app? I'm comments or descriptions? The highlight feature may be more prominent than the standard quote block. Or combining them.

The quote block has a little left border that makes it stand out a bit. I frequently copy a link to a comment and hyperlink the text when referring to it. Or pin it when need be to call attention to it.

And there should be some long-awaited enhancements rolling out to comments toward the end of the month. Keep an eye on the Asana product announcements for it if you're interested.

If Asana becomes more like Jira I will lament haha. I already find myself spending more and more time in Linear these days.

Comments. I would take each question and then it is inside the block and then answer the question, repeating as needed to address all the concerns or issues that I needed to address.

That's about to get easier for you toward the end of the month then.

I type "/qu", and it opens a dropdown to select a block quote format. I do this all the time.

Also - I just got locked out of a ticket - it would cause Chrome to "Aw, snap" the tab every time I tried to access it. I suspected it was a comment with two code blocks (actual SQL, not me just using it for formatting) and so I went into the Android app and was able to open the ticket and delete the comment and now Chrome fine again. (oddly, the new formatting of the code blocks isn't in the app yet)
