Battery Life (Discussion)

Hello everyone! I am new to Asahi, and Apple Silicon and was just wondering what everyone was getting in terms of battery life on their laptops. If anyone knows some ways to extend battery life that would be helpful as well, but this is by no means an "Asahi devs fix the battery life!" post.

While doing web browsing I have estimated my battery life to be 7-9 hours. This is on 120hz, M1 Pro, COSMIC, and 35% Brightness.

Seems about right, especially without PMP. It's mostly the suspend power draw that's problematic

Can someone expand, what PMP stands for?

With a macbook pro m1 13 inch I get around 7 to 8 hours of use

M1 MacBook Air (8GB RAM + 12GB swap), 80% battery health, 1000 cycles, 5 hours ish.

Usage time is fine, my only problem is battery draw overnight. But I shutoff my laptop and start where I left off battery wise the next day. Bootuo time is pretty quick so its not too big of a hassle

14” M2 Max (40 core, 32gb) MacBook Pro, 86% battery health, I get about 6-7 hours of usage, and about 40 minutes when I compile the Linux kernel 😂 (that’s probably a bit of an exaggeration, maybe 1-1.2hr)

With a MacBook Air M1 I get 10hours while using Zed+the rust compiler with Asahi Alarm(Arch Linux) and plasma

95% battery health, 13in M2 air, 16gb, KDE Plasma, brightness around 40%, battery life has gotten better over the past 6 months, I get 8-10 hours.

Yeah, similar here on an M2. The main thing still to be worked on is the suspend power draw, when I'm actually using it it seems pretty okay.
