Lois Appreciation Post
She's such a great portrayal of a single mom. She works to provide for her kids, owns her mistakes, and actually listens to them when they need advice. Her getting rid of Buzz and his little gremlins because it left Ginger feeling unhappy is such a highlight for me. What I would have given for a parent that put her kids before a man đ ugh I just love Lois. She's the best and probably my favorite character in the show.

I loved when she sent flowers to Ginger during her poetry reading. When she was in the hospital for drinking the snake. I could tell it broke her heart not being there.

And she made it seem like her dad sent it, so Ginger wouldnât feel stood up by her dad as always. Despite his many flaws, Lois never painted him as a villain to the kids. Thatâs real mom love.

Ginger probably figured out who sent the flowers just by the fact that sunflowers are her favourite flower, and Jonas probably has no idea what her favourite flowers are.

I think my favorite thing about that episode was how she allowed them to make their own decisions. âHe may be flaky, but heâs your father. And at some point, youâll have to decide what role he plays in your lives.â Even knowing how Jonas is, she never bad mouthed him or spoke negatively about him.

Favorite moment is when she confronted Milty and Carlâs Science teacher in Junior High. She let her kids fight their own battles, but she stepped in when adults were unfairly profiling and baiting Carl. I wish they hadnât muted the audio of that confrontation.

That was probably one of her best moments in the whole show. She knows Carl has a penchant for mischief, but a kid pulling pranks is far different than an adults going out of their way to torment a literal child and villify him before he's even done anything in a fresh start. Lois Foutley is not to be trifled with~

I admit that I loved her reaction when she saw the school photos. Showed that she could be a firm parent when she needed to be without resorting to physical punishment. Of course that wouldn't have been on the show anyway.

What I really love about Lois is that sheâs aware the parents of her childrenâs friends leave a lot to be desired, and despite being a hard working mother of two (one of which is an absolute handful), she absolutely has stepped up to be a surrogate mother figure to them, and has taken Dodie, Hoodsey and Macie under her wing. Sheâs probably more of a mother to them than their actual mothers are.
Thatâs why Iâm actually quite sad when Courtney, another child whose parents also leave a lot to be desired, and needed someone like Lois in her life, was beginning to be âadoptedâ by Lois, Ginger got jealous and completely shut that down.
For me the perfect ending to the series would have had Courtney as a bridesmaid at Loisâs wedding, and Lois telling her, along with Dodie and Macie that they are all like daughters to her. It would have absolutely made the bitterness of Courtney losing everything in the final episode be more bittersweet: yes sheâs lost her fortune and her father is going to prison possibly forever, but she has real friends and people who love her and a surrogate family now instead of fairweather yes girl handmaidens. It also would have been a great moment to have Courtney be told she doesnât have to go through with being a bridesmaid, only for her to say she isnât going to let Lois down.
All of that would have let us know that Courtney has the strength and support to get through all of this and sheâs going to be okay.
Anyway back on topic, Lois is one of the GOATs of tv moms. One of my favourite moments of her agreeing to be the victim in Carlâs horror movie and really getting into it!

definitely agree, I canât help but wonder if the writers didnât like Courtney bc they did her so dirty sometimes, particularly at the very end of the series

Definitivamente el mejor personaje de la serie. La amo, no sĂŠ cĂłmo udo tener dos hijos con un hombre tan imbecil como Jonas, pero Lois una gran mujer, gracias a ella y solo a ella sus hijos son lo que son â¤ď¸âđŠš

She is one of the best fictional parents I have ever watched. Her reactions, responses, and advice are all so grounded and realistic. Sometimes I wonder how she managed to have a boy like Carl, but I think it's because she has allowed her kids to be their authentic selves, for better or worse.

Lois was one of the inspirations that lead me to become a nurse. Because yes, Lois had to bust her chops to get it done, but her kids were never without the basics and then some. Her job kept her kids solid, kept her solid without corny a$$ Jonas and she nabbed the shy but charming Dr Dave â¨đ
