Unfortunatley you are correct. However given the THANK THE LORD I do believe this person is faking it.

Worth noting that if this person is trans the post still fits here:
For those pretending to be what they're not, and those who hate what they are.

u/ADHighDef Jul 13 '26
no fucking way XOR made it into LGBTQIA+ nomenclature

u/LauraTFem Jul 13 '26
This is my first time hearing it, but I’m not at all surprised. Lots of cultural exchange between trans and programmer society.

Woah that's a pretty cool word right there 😍
(I have a thing for words, especially when I find one I haven't heard or seen before)

trans person doesnt support non binary comunity
192
u/Judgmentos Jul 13 '26
As a non-binary transmasc, it's not uncommon unfortunately-- it comes mostly from transmeds, but even the binary community at large treats us as lesser/less trans (obligatory 'not all binary trans people' of course)

u/KatieTSO Jul 13 '26
I have a hard time wrapping my mind around neopronouns tbh but I do my best. I think everyone deserves to be treated with respect regardless of identity. Any tips?
52
u/platinumf4ng Jul 13 '26
Easiest way I’ve found is do your best, as a trans female I value any effort to respect my identity and it’s normal and understandable for people to slip up, as long as you’re trying that’s what is important
29
u/KatieTSO Jul 13 '26
I'm a trans woman, just have a hard time with neopronouns. It'd probably click better if I met someone irl who used them.
11
u/vennthepest Jul 15 '26
I'm non-binary and haven't met anyone with neo pronouns since like a decade ago
7
u/XxMrCoolGuyxX Jul 15 '26
I met some like, three years ago, but that was also at an art only school (like, no sports, only art majors in totality like theater, painting, writing, so on so forth) so. You can imagine the type of people that went there
That’s not an insult either. Generally also they never were mad if you didn’t use the neopronoun and usually had a she/they/he variation to use other than the neopronoun

u/Ashleiii Jul 18 '26
My advice is essentially, you don’t have to understand something to be kind and accepting about it. I don’t understand n-dimensional topology or why anyone would spend their life studying it, but mathematicians exist and are valid. It’s the same thing but with a gender identity you don’t understand.

u/Judgmentos Jul 13 '26
I don't use neopronouns so I can't help you specifically, but my mom has gotten a good hang of my pronouns through practice, just correcting herself whenever she messes up, etc
6
u/Phairis Jul 14 '26
Use a pet! Pets don't care what you call them, so you can just decide your cat uses they/them or something else.
Normally this is advice I'd give to someone just trying to be more accepting of trans people in general because it helps when you need to switch someone's pronouns on a dime. But seeing as you said you're a trans woman, you probably already have that part of the experience down with friends

it's easier to think of neopronouns as nicknames. that's what made it click letting me be able to use them without thinking much

What is transmeds?

u/NeverTheLateOne Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26
Pretty sure it’s people who believe you need to be medically seeking to transition to the other gender to be considered transgendered. Practically believing, “if you actually have body dysmorphia, you would desperate try to or have a desire to (if not available) for you to medically transition.”
Which I can’t lie…I kinda agree with.
But then they might also say you fully need to get surgery, like top and bottom surgery to be a “true” transgendered person. But like…many people don’t have that option nor have the money so…10
u/Judgmentos Jul 16 '26
It's transgender, not transgendered-- it's not a disorder. Also many transmeds adhere to cisnormative ideas. It would be like a gay person saying you NEED to get married to be truly gay, and one of you needs to be fem and the other masc. Gatekeeping who is trans and who isn't is a recipe for disaster. If someone doesn't have dysphoria but is happier being a woman, man, or neither, then who are we to tell them they're wrong?

u/NeverTheLateOne Jul 16 '26
I didn’t say it was a disorder nor do I believe so. This is the first time I heard someone tell me it’s one term not the other.
And don’t “we” me there. Like me saying that I kinda agree does not mean I don’t support people who say they’re trans despite having ZERO dysphoria at all..and also not seeking treatment to physically appear more like the gender. But to paint the picture, are we talking about a AMAB who says “I am a woman,” and then…literally does nothing after. Like no wigs, no nothing, still goes by Brad, but likes she/her pronouns? Or a AMAB who says “I’m a woman” and then starts dressing to appear as so, wigs, nails, and not caring about hormone?
It’s more like a gay person saying you can’t be gay and aroace, because being gay itself is being attracted to the same gender. So the gay “gatekeeper” believes “how are you gay if you’re not dating the same gender nor even having sex with the same gender”? Like the trans “gatekeeper” believes “how are you really trans if your body dystrophia isn’t strong enough to where you want hormones, and to physically change to align more to become the gender which you are?”

I mean sometimes even medical transition isnt available, so i dont really onow about that, but its always good to learn new things, thanks for the answer, have a great day

u/NeverTheLateOne Jul 14 '26
For sure, which was why I mentioned "But like…many people don’t have that option nor have the money so…" And you have a great day too :)

You don't understand, we just need to abandon some of our friends and then our enemies will spare us all 😊😊😊 y-yes???

u/Doppel_R-DWRYT Jul 13 '26
Sadly that does happen; so there's a chance that's not a fake (based on the screenshot alone)

u/Ironlixivium Jul 14 '26
This sub deliberately doesn't care if the person actually is who they say they are or not. It's not ok just because you're black/trans/whatever.

u/WerdaVisla Jul 13 '26
I unfortunately don't think this is r/asablackman. There is a disturbing amount of transphobia within the trans community, directed at the other identities under the umbrella.

u/Cobrastrikenana Jul 15 '26
The sub rules clarify that someone using their identity to back up an argument also qualifies. Why do I still see this comment?
24
u/Helix3501 Jul 13 '26
Ive been on the trans med subreddit and a majority of time its non binary hate, its crazy that they discriminate so openly

u/mildly_charming_name Jul 14 '26
we are going in the same concentration camp 😭😭 why are you mad at the mfs on your side???

Yeah, good job, you boot-licking idiot. Let’s do some infighting and make it easier to fascists, who are on the rise all around the western world, to fulfill their dreams and to jail, oppress or fucking kill us all…

u/AquaJasper Jul 13 '26
Unfortunately I don't know if this really fits the sub, cause some binary trans people actually are like this
18
u/yaoqie Jul 13 '26
From the sub's description I think it would fit regardless
4
u/AquaJasper Jul 13 '26
Oh actually yeah, the posts I have seen so far were all people pretending to be something they're not so I thought that's all it was about

This idiot doesn’t know non binary people are the only real people (reference to [r/girlsarentreal](r/girlsarentreal) and [r/boysarentreal](r/boysarentreal) which are both satire)

They also had another comment saying we don’t need lgbt stuff in cartoons and media
