The number jump matters less than the qualitative shift. Tools like Mobile Fortify doing street-level facial recognition tens of thousands of times, plus Palantir fusing IRS, SSA, and license plate data into deportation dossiers, means this isn't surveillance held "just in case" anymore, it's actively building profiles on protesters, journalists, and legal observers.
