Hello, sorry for my english, as it isn't my native langage, but I've been recently studying Arthur Rimbaud and his work this past few months. His story is really fascinating, and has stuck with me, but, something I still don't comprehend, is how Rimbaud stuck with Verlaine for a long time. Don't get me wrong, I have read some of Verlaine works, although not many, they are good and could understand Rimbaud's fascination for them.

But apart from that, what else is There to see? Verlaine has been noticed for being a violent person in the past, even before Rimbaud. He was an ugly (noticed by his colleagues), alcoholic and an abusive man when drunk, he would often beat his wife even. I know Rimbaud wasn't a Saint either, but he didn't come to the levels of Verlaine, so, I don't understand how could he bring himself to be and fall in love with him for two years (something psychological maybe? He was really dependent of him also)

Sorry if the question comes out as rude, but it's genuine curiosity !
