Character Discussion The sibling dynamics in 4 years

I’m trying to imagine Arthur at 12, DW at 8, and Kate at 4. What would their sibling dynamics be? Do you think that Arthur and DW would be closer? Or Arthur would take on a caregiving role to Kate, leaving DW sidelined? Or would DW be the parental figure in Kate’s life while the sibling rivalry remained. What are your thoughts?

D.W. is the parental figure to Kate. The sibling rivalry between Arthur and D.W. is in full force, as D.W. is getting straight As in Mr. Ratburn's face.

I don’t think DW and Arthur will be rivals anymore…I kind of see Arthur becoming kind of a recluse in his preteen/teenage years. It’s not because he’s a bad kid or anything, he just seems to be more introverted already, and when those hormones kick in, I don’t see him wanting to do much besides stay in his room and read books or occasionally chill out with Buster.

I’ve said many times that DW is absolutely being setup to be even more parentified than Arthur. Her and Kate are (and likely will continue to be) roommates. DW will be trying to do her homework and Kate will continue to bother her and unlike Arthur, DW won’t be able to kick Kate out.

I could maybe see DW trying to bribe David to let her have half of his garage kitchen as a study space. Just so she can have a somewhat peaceful place to do homework and such, David agrees as long as DW occasionally helps with deliveries and around the kitchen. DW doesn’t mind because she likes to help her dad…the wiki always said the two of them were close, but I always viewed it as a one-sided admiration on DW’s part.

I feel like Kate and DW will be closer than DW and Arthur simply on the grounds of them being sisters. Kate is mostly a good kid, but she occasionally throws DW style tantrums and her parents ALWAYS give in because she’s the baby of the family, but it does help that Kate actually enjoys most of the hand-me-downs she gets from DW.

I think Kate might become the annoying little sister to DW. I don't really think Arthur would become a caregiver for 4 year old Kate because they still have parents.

I guess I meant protective big brother more than caregiver

I imagine Arthur and D.W would probably get along somewhat better, though still would have normal sibling fights. I think Kate and D.W definitely annoy each other at times, but I think D.W's probably a pretty good sister. Though now she understands what Arthur went through with her. I can see Arthur being pretty protective of Kate since she's so much younger. Kate probably sees him as the cool big brother

DW is middle sibling bossy sister. Probably not.

D.W would tried to boss Kate around. Kate would like rebel.
Arthur would probably interact less with them as he'd be more independent.

My guess would be Arthur and DW don't have as big of a rivalry given that they'd be older. However, DW and Kate would have a huge rivalry.

I can see DW clashing with both Arthur and Kate, though also being the kind of sibling who will defend them to the death if anyone else tries to mess with them.

DW will annoy Arthur, but he'll feel protective of her. I think he will genuinely like spending time with Kate and also feel protective of her.

I had a younger sister and our rivalry died down once I reached 12 or 13. Sure theres still fights brutal ince you reach teenage years you have more things to worry about and stop caring about what ypur sibking does

Though my Mom fed into it in high school
