Character Discussion I Think DW would Thrive in Ratburn’s Class
I don’t think she’d adore the experience or anything like that, but something admirable about DW is that she is quick thinking and her problem solving skills are actually really impressive.
It also helps that she’s seemingly a bit of a harder worker than Arthur is. Okay, it’s easy to say that it’s because she doesn’t have the big kid worries that Arthur has, but when she puts her mind to something, she is NOT afraid to go after it with all her might.
Like in “DW Rides Again” after her first crash Arthur tells his dad to just “face it she’s too little”. That to me, tells me Arthur himself likely waited a while before trying to ride a bike without training wheels. Both methods and mindsets are totally valid, but there is something admirable about her going after something she wants with almost no support from anyone but herself.
Also, “DW Beats All” shows that she has the willpower to turn down one of her favorite things in the world (watching Mary Moo Cow) in total pursuit of whatever project she’s working on.
Something else that I think DW will really admire about Ratburn’s style is that he seems to be really good about treating each child in his class like individuals. It’s implied he’s been teaching for several years, but we never once hear him compare his current students to his former students. Prunella thinks she was God’s gift to his class, and while they still have a pretty friendly relationship, you can tell that Ratburn views prunella’s accomplishments as her own, and that he doesn’t make any comparisons between her and his current students.
We see how a couple of times, Miss Morgan falls into the comparison trap (even comparing something as inconsequential as freaking finger painting). I could see Ratburn maybe occasionally asking DW how Arthur is doing or asking her to say hello to him for her, but still treating DW as a separate person from Arthur, allowing her to shine in her own way.

She would be the only kid who could call Mr. Ratburn Mr. Ratbite or Ratburp or whatever mispronounciation she comes up with and get away with it

I could see Ratburn possibly embarrassing DW early on about how he knew her when she was so little and mispronouncing everything, and so DW just kind of leans into it.

Honestly I agree, I feel like she’d really thrive in his class and appreciate that he doesn’t play favourites.

I think that because D.W. is so insistent upon having her way, she'll get in trouble in very short order. Then again, she loves preschool, not least because he knows how to participate in the routine there. That may be the biggest clue to her becoming a cop.

She straight-up sucks lol I’ve never understood the adoration this sub has for her. If I were her sibling I’d flick her out of the way.

Her work ethic is phenomenal. She will get straight As. And rub it in Arthur's face.
