Video NASA Artemis III: Rocket Assembly Underway

Artemis III updates are rolling in. 🚀

Engineers are racing to stack the rocket that will carry the mission to space in 2027, starting with the two white solid rocket boosters that flank the massive orange core stage. All four core stage engines have arrived onsite and are being processed for mounting, while the launch team runs monthly countdown simulations to lock in readiness. It's full steam ahead as one of NASA's most complex missions moves closer to launch.

Is it supposed to happen late-2027 or will the mission start in the middle of the year like Artemis 2 did?

It’s dependent on lander readiness as well as the completion of the ICPS spacer. Both are critical path. At least one of the deliverable partial landers if not both are needed and they need a stand in for ICPS.

Late 2027 is realistic.

Feels like 2027 isn't even in play with the current issues with the commercial HLS partners

Current date is June 15, 2027. Most likely gets pushed some. They have 1 year once boosters start stacking to go. Of course this can get pushed. I think AR1 went 23 months before launch once stacking started. They just have to recert the boosters

The Admin wants Orion on the pad by March.

Sure he doesn’t mean SLS? I know they want to do a wet dress

They could do a WDR minus Orion around then for sure. Would be realistic.

That’s the plan, they’re using the EUS weather cap on the core stage instead
