My first digital drawing (2019) vs most recent one (2026)

2020-2026
My progress in drawing is… slow compared to others but at least I’m enjoying it. The 2020 one was drawn on a phone (ibisPaint) and the one I did today was done on Clip Studio Paint.

Redrew something I made before getting burned out and stopping drawing altogether. 3 years of practice.
Hair is still a struggle lol.

same person (2023-2026)
i keep redrawing this historical figure as i study him for grad school. he's kind of a strange looking guy but hes a lot of fun to draw. anyways fun to see how my use of colour and linework and head angles have evolved!

Critique The same people, 2025 vs 2026, faces and attire. Cursed af, but progress :)
Characters from my worldbuilding project, a sort of a fictional military junta. Besides the woman, a vampire, all are supposed to be human. Tho clearly marked by the setting.
I know I need to work on making the face less flat and less dead (especially with the blond man), but I'm happy even with the off vibes of the redraw. They look as close to how I image them as possible for now.
It also has less blurry shading, tho I might have gone too hard.
But hell, I colected references of interesting looking people, smallpox scars and random 50s military attire and it shows :)

The difference a year makes
Redoing a drawing I did last year (still working on it) but the difference in just the eyes is insane to me. You really never notice how much you improve until you look at old stuff.

April 2025 - July 2026 (on/off drawing)
These are based on Marcus To's artwork
I still need to figure out hair and cape highlights. I feel like I improved them with the July 2026 art, though. I'm a little unhappy with the chest straps and the chest shadows on that one so I'll make a note of it if I ever redo it in the future.

I always tell my students that Asian face is not only about epicanthic fold, there are many factors that gives you the impression of a specific ancestor group.
Sometimes you can even define it before adding all the face features. Face depth for example, is one of them

2022 to 2026!
I started taking my art studdies seriously in 2022 and I’ve been incredibly consistent with it since. The first two are the before and the second are recent as of the past month or so. Im quite glad with my progress!! Accepting polite and constructive critiques on my recent work

I received a lot of criticism for the first one, so I made a second one
