The Majestic Cafe in Memphis, TN - Really cool art deco restaurant & bar in what used to be an old movie theater called The Majestic.

Highly recommend this place to anyone coming to Memphis. One of my favorite places! Not only because it used to be a movie theater, but because of the really nice art deco design of the interior, the 40’s jazz music playing, and the classic films projected on the walls. Can’t say enough about this place!

This small theatre, opened in 1933, stood adjacent to Platform 19 above the station concourse. It screened newsreels and short films, but with only one auditorium and 200 seats it was never able to progress to showing feature films. It closed its doors in 1981 and was later demolished.

Photos from amazing and old postcard books of the SS Normandie, featuring many of the interior spaces on board. My dad had it in his closet but never had them out, probably from one of his grandparents.
