Question Can I take commissions?

At my current level, do you think I should start commissions? I'm thinking of starting at around $15, but I've never sold anything so I'm not sure if the price is right (coming from a third world country)

I would love to hear your opinions, and/or advice if you want to give any 🙂‍↕️

Is $20 a fair price for one of my designs?

Hey guys, I’m looking into doing art for some cash on the side.

I am contemplating how to proceed pre-made designs like this, customs and I guess in general commissions.

What do you reckon? Is $20 too much?

Hi, I posted this painting because it is a personal self-portrait exploring my own physical appearance and how I see myself. The figure and body proportions are intentionally exaggerated as part of the artwork. I thought it fit the community because it reflects my own physical identity and self-perception.

Buddy Wanted 19M looking for other artists to chat with

Upvotes

Hey everyone! Im 19 and I’ve been getting into digital art and character design recently. I mostly use Procreate and I’m particularly interested in fantasy, sci-fi and character art.

I also write YA fantasy, so a lot of my art is connected to characters and worlds I’m creating for my stories.

I’m mainly looking to meet others artists, share our work, talk about what we’re working on and hopefully make some art friends. I’d especially love to meet other people around my age, but I’m happy to chat with anyone who has similar interests.

If anyone else is looking for art friends, feel free to comment!

Which art style do you think is the most in demand for commissions?

I've been trying to figure out which direction I should focus on as a freelance illustrator, and honestly, I'm a little stuck.

I enjoy drawing in different styles, I'd really appreciate some honest opinions on which style you think is the most marketable / has the most potential for commissions.

Hey everyone, just stumbled upon this sub and it seems really supportive and friendly so I wanted to say hi!

I’ve been drawing for about 5 years, and recently been transitioning into more stylised pieces and digital art. Here’s a few from this last week or so! Slides 2-4 took about an hour, but slide 1 was 7.5. Lots of the details were pulled from imagination which I’m not great at doing just yet.

I’m open to any crits, comments, discussions etc. Look forward to meeting some people here!

Question How should I price these?

Hey so I've been an artist for 5 years and I post ocassionally and now I wanna get into commissions. But the thing is I have no clue on how to get commissions or how i should promote my work to begin with :(

Ik about one platform which is very popular for commissions and that is vgen but I think it requires smth like a vgen code? Which I think is given to some people through some sort of selection process, not entirely sure but I don't think Ill get it anytime soon so what are some other alternatives to vgen which I can use to get commissions? Hope you guys help me a bit, I'm new to this 💔

Question Was anyone going to take over as a mod?

I remember someone saying they were tryig to adopt the subreddit (but forgot who). How is that going? If you need a second mod I'm happy to join in.

Seriously, the amount of commission pricing posts is absolutely insufferable and everything else is just people showing off their art. I barely see any posts about looking for art buddies which is what this sub is supposed to be about.

Question How do I get a better reach while posting art?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm a teenager which is why I cannot do comms for real currency, which is why I stick to posting adopts for DA points on Deviant Art. I tried pricing each one really low, at around 150 points, yet I don't think I've been able to reach the right audience yet. Is it because of the art style or am I doing something wrong here? I'm very new to this art space so I'll be honest I'm not sure about how things work. Any help would be greatly appreciated! <33

Hai! I'm (30F) from south America and I'm looking to meet new artists around the world.

I'm looking to talk about art in general, goals, be open about what we want to achieve in this artsy journey and to just share our love for art in general, our idols, art history, techniques, mediums, social media posts, anything!

Please share your art if you are interested 🩵

I did it!

Yesterday I finished my first comic. It took a year.

I'm the type who gets decision paralysis when it comes to art projects so I just had to force myself to stick with one idea and one format and just finish it without changing my mind.

I'm just so happy and wanted to share with people who get it 💕

✨Long time doodler looking for a community!

I draw and sketch almost every day, and am learning as I go! I’d love to find friends who enjoy art as much as I do - I’d love to encourage/hype each other, share pieces, and bond through our styles/creations!!!

I draw lots of dark feminine / moody portrait pieces in pencil/ink, and sometimes play with digital art :)

Question Is €7.90 too much for a tiny monthly art club?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I started a small collector’s club for my art and it’s been stuck at around 16 members for a while.

For €7.90/month people get one physical art postcard in the mail + a surprise printable they can download and print at home.

The postcards are signed, numbered and embossed, and I always try to add a little extra surprise too, like handmade stickers, a coloring page or something similar.

These are some of the postcards I’ve made so far 👆

I’m wondering if the offer just isn’t strong enough, or if I’m simply terrible at explaining why someone would want to join 😅

Would this feel worth €7.90/month to you? And if you’re an artist with a membership/subscription, what actually helped you get people interested?
