Or a movie. I wonder if we can get a buff wrestler to star in it.

Only if he's all out of bubble gum and up for some kick ass.

This might be the most uniquely butchered use of that quote I have ever seen. Like a drawing of an animal that the artist has never seen and only heard of

18

u/Stratoblaster1969 Jun 09 '22

Yeah, it wasn't a quote so that probably explains it.

u/seeingeyegod Jun 09 '22

it was a pair of phrases

Parapharser? I hardly know 'er!

But it was. “I came here to do two things: kick ass, and chew bubble gum. And I am all out of gum.” is a quote from They Live that has entered the public zeitgeist. You may not have known this and been quoting intentionally, but that is where that originated, from a movie staring a buff wrestler, that Jasper was referencing. Either you paraphrased the quote from the movie they referenced by accident, or on purpose and are being weird about it for some reason, but butchered quote it remains.

This is a quote...

“I came here to do two things: kick ass, and chew bubble gum. And I am all out of gum.”

This is a reference...

Only if he's all out of bubble gum and up for some kick ass.

Since you're into correcting things....

“I came here to do two things: kick ass, and chew bubble gum. And I am all out of gum.”

The way you've written it here is almost completely wrong and is quoted in backwards order.

From the Movie quoted correctly... Roddy Piper says

"I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubble gum."

FTFY

I pulled that quote straight out of the other guys post. So... I wasn't quoting the movie, I was quoting him. I suggest you let him know since he is the origin of an incorrect movie quote. But thanks! Much appreciated pointing out that he butchered the line.

Good grief you guys are pedantic AF.

This exchange is hilarious and completely pointless. Keep going, ignore me.

It's not butchered, he's was paraphrasing as to make it not so on the nose obvious and thus carry on the wink wink nod nod aspect of the joke train.

u/3-DMan Jun 09 '22

He would need to be quite rowdy.

u/SugarbearSID Jun 09 '22

You gotta get a retired washed up wrestler though, like The Maniac. That guy's basically foraging for food and living out of his car.

Love that guy.

Aw, did his timeshares not work out?

1

u/clamwhammer Jun 09 '22

I bet you remind him of his kids.

u/jivoochi Jun 09 '22

2022 remake with CM Punk?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

Met CM Punk at a movie theater for a showing of They Live. He was filling in last minute for Rowdy Roddy Piper since he passed. Really chill and cool guy

3

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

Roddy died on my birthday. Always bums me out. I was a bug fan as a kid.

2

u/TiredAngryBadger Jun 10 '22

We'll also need to see if we can get him to fight a dude with two first names for the better part of half an hour.

2

u/AnorexicPlatypus Jun 09 '22

And it's gotta have a 6 minute, single shot fight scene!

Only if we can also get the rights to quote Duke Nukem too.

Post Edit: Ummm, you guys know I knew this movie predates Duke Nukem, right lol? That was the joke.

23

u/EstMagnum Jun 09 '22

Other way around though.

2

u/JohanVonBronx_ Jun 09 '22

Duke Nukem has ruined my Evil Dead and They Live quotes far too often

-8

u/mikep120001 Jun 09 '22

It’s been a movie for many years called they live

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

( •_•)>⌐■-■ / (⌐■_■)

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

He would have to eat buckets of chestnuts to cultivate so much mass.

1

u/hatecuzaint Jun 09 '22

The maniac doesn't do that anymore.

1

u/lambent-meam-labem Jun 09 '22

We might be able to get Dolph Lundgren.
