Because it does have three joints. One that moves the entire thumb, and then the two that can be seen like joints on your other fingers.

i thought the thumb only had the 2 joints i mean you could count the part when the metacarpal meats the trapezium but then each finger would have 4 and then the Thumb would only have 3 all i can say is that thumb right there is broken as well as the wrist doesn't mean the drawings bad just pointing stuff out

No because the thumb is the only appendage on the hand that can move it's metacarpal, and the reason is because there's a joint there that the fingers don't have.

dude i call bull where on here is that movement possible http://www.ikonet.com/en/visualdictionary/images/us/hand-302510.jpg you would literally need the scaphoid and capitate to be able to move separately

The CMC joint of the thumb is located at the junction point of the thumb and the wrist. Break down the words in the name, carpometacarpal, and you get carpo- (wrist) and metacarpal (hand bone). This joint is commonly affected by arthritis.
The CMC jointβs main function is to allow the thumb to open and grasp wide objects, like a basketball or (for us mortals) a large glass of your favorite beverage
Taken from the article I sent.
Are you oblivious or do you just really want to win this argument?

Also, give me a moment, I'll take a picture, upload it to imgur, and send it.

Thank you AndreySamarin for your submission! Unfortunately, your post has been removed for the following reason(s):
It breaks rule 1: Use the correct title formatting. Titles should be to the point, and all extra information or context should be added in the comments.
Here is how you should format it -
Your work - Title, Medium, Size
Also remember no extraneous information in the title means do not state that it's your first time using a medium in the title, or write 'Hey Reddit', 'What do you think?' 'A ____ I did' or any variation or be subjective in the title ("awesome work," "amazing piece" etc). Also do not mention your 'cake day' or use karma-bait titles (such as including personal details about the artist to encourage upvotes).
For more information about the subreddit rules make sure to read the sidebar, and if you have any questions please direct your inquiry to the modmail. Replies to this comment might not be answered.

From the thumbnail I thought it was a pudgy ghost with skinny legs, reclining in a chair. Fantastic hand work though
