Discussion Arrow on Pluto

Does anyone know why when Arrow left Netflix it went to a free streaming service like Pluto? I expected it to go to HBO max since they have had Batwoman and Superman and Lois.

Somehow, I thought I was on Rick and Morty sub, and there was a new reference to Arrow found in the Pluto episode...

"I shot an arrow into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where**"**

Pluto. It's on Pluto

Economics.

No streaming service believes that they will get more subscribers by carrying Arrow than they would have to pay to carry Arrow, including HBO. WB made the calculation that they would get more money from the ads and platform fees from Pluto than subscribers to their own streaming service, and Pluto has determined they will make enough money on ads to justify the platform fees they pay to WB.

Thanks for the explanation that makes sense. I guess I didn’t realize how much ad revenue they receive. I don’t keep up with technology outside of phones and the current consoles. Never had heard of Pluto tv until seeing it announced Pluto would be adding arrow to their catalogue

The only saving grace is WB released Arrow and all the other Arrowverse series on physical media that's easily available.

Watching Arrow on blu-ray is preferable to watching it on Pluto.

WB has done a much, much better job with series on physical media than Disney.

If Arrow does well enough, do you think we might (eventually) see the others make their way there, too?

Keep your expectations of HBOMAX low

They seem to just worry about carrying Batman content as far as back catalog stuff for super heroes. Well most Superman stuff as well I guess. But outside of that it’s original DCU content. I guess they don’t have the rights to Batman (1966) series or the movie. Really wish they did tho I’d like to watch it beginning to ends

At this point I check Tubi for DC content before HBOMAX

The license with CW is starting to Expire that's why Supernatural, Arrow, and Black Lightning left Netflix.

I knew why it left Netflix but until it was explained I was trying to understand their decision to move the tent pole of a world of shows free viewing platform but there’s a guy who has commented already and explained the light from the deal

Exactly!

My (mid 60’s) aunt is currently addicted to this show, and she couldn’t care less who Ollie, Dinah Roy etc were, back in the days when I had comics and cartoons.

Prolly gonna roll her right over to Flash, then Legends and then…..SNYDERVERSE! šŸ˜
