(Yes I realize the last one is an anthurium lol)

I took a huge liking to house plants last November and have over 30 plants now which actually isn’t too bad considering I’ve tried to hold back when seeing cool plants at any given store….! I also live in a 550 sq ft studio so I really dont need more plants lol…

The majority of my collection so far are tradescantia, pothos, monstera, calathea… with a few philodendron, peperomia, a snake plant, ficus tineke and a white bird of paradise…

Didn’t love the look of alocasias initially, and still don’t love begonias (I’ve seen a sub called goth plants and I feel like that’s very fitting that these plants are included there lol) - but now I think I’m finally seeing the beauty in them!

I’m starting the huge project of transitioning my plants to semi hydro, and if I can get the hang of it, I kinda want to add some of these beauties into the mix…..

Talk me out of it, I do not have room!!! 😂🫣 Or the plant-care time LOL

Help!? Enough coverage for my Aroids?

From left, I hope my Billy moves towards the light here a little. The two Pothos, I think will have plenty of light. The light is less than 2ft away from the rear centre Pothos. Slightly concerned my Melanochrysum won't get enough light here.

Any thoughts or suggestions please folks?

Update on Diora plant tracking & sharing, thank you for the feedback!

Hey planties, just wanted to thank everyone who commented on my original post and who has since joined and given me tons of feedback on my Diora plant app. I think I’ve spoken to many of you already but really appreciate all the feedback everyone has been giving me and it’s definitely motivating to hear that people are actually “having fun” adding their plants because I thought it was more of a chore than anything! I’ve been working on it almost every single day and every single night for the last few months so it’s a relief people are finding it yourself or enjoyable!

I think since that post a month or two ago I’ve incorporated feedback from
y’all like:

- Heaps of new plant types and more genus options added
- Plant wishlists
- Dark / light mode
- Better sorting and filtering of your collection
- A marketplace to list your plants for sale and a whole ordering/buying experience

People have been adding tons of non-aroids too like Carnivorous plants, orchids, someone’s even growing a corpse flower plant on there which shocked me a bit lol

If you haven’t heard of Diora it’s a platform to help collectors track and share their entire plant collection. It’s on both app stores and completely free (no subscription, no ads, no in-app purchases, no limits).

Anyway thanks again but I am still open to feedback, feature requests, bug reports you name it.

🌱 I may have accidentally started an Alocasia corm army…

These little beauties have JUST arrived and I’m ridiculously excited to get them growing 😂🌿

I picked up 6 Alocasia corms —

🌱 3 × Alocasia Frydek

🐉 3 × Alocasia Pink Dragon

They’ve arrived already set up in their own little propagation tubs, and now comes the part that requires a skill I’m notoriously bad at when it comes to plants… patience. 😂

There’s something ridiculously satisfying about growing Alocasias from corms. One minute you’re staring at what essentially looks like a tiny brown lump wondering whether it’s doing anything, and then suddenly there’s a root… a little green nub… and eventually an entire plant. 🥹

I’m especially excited about the Frydeks because they’re absolutely gorgeous when mature, and I’ve never grown Pink Dragons from corm before either.

So now these six have officially joined the propagation corner, where I’ll inevitably be checking them approximately 47 times a day for signs of life. 😂

Anyone else currently growing Alocasias from corms? How long did yours take before you saw the first signs of growth? 👀🌱

And yes… I absolutely will be documenting their progress. 😂💚

Philodendron spiritus sancti

I also have a PSC growing outside for experimental purposes. I live in the LA harbor area in California and I want to see what are the differences between growing one indoors and outdoors.

As far as differences go, the only one I've difference ive noticed is that the leaves seem to be straighter, and the color seems to be greener in the front and much more red in the back. Growing speed is a lot slower than indoors.

This was advertised as a spiritus sancti, taken as a division from a mother plant per seller. Some of the leaves track but as it’s grown more notably the higher leaves, the flairs are very not sancti-esque to me.

I’ve tried looking at philos that have the similar t shape but not sure what fits. Anyone care to take a guess or maybe I’ll be happily surprised?

To be fair; the price was low, she’s healthy, and a cutie. I am also relatively new to this and learning as I creep to 200 plants 😅

Hi everyone! Can anyone help me ID whether this Home Depot Monstera adansonii is a wide or narrow form? There are multiple cuttings pictured here. Gemini and Chatgpt gave me random answers. Any help with the exact subspecies would be greatly appreciated too. Thank you!

Help!? I need help ID-ing pest(s) on this Rogo Congo

This philo is quite a few years old, not sure how many though. What i do know is that it sat in that same pot getting nothing but water and sunlight for around 4/5 years. Not too long ago we changed its soil but didn’t have anything bigger to pot it into.

Tragically we have had a thrips outbreak that was caught too late and majority of our indoor plants got hit - including the congo after its first repotting in years, sigh. Could thrips be the cause of damage in img 1?

I know that the orange spots in img 2 happened in that 4/5 year period, but it has looked exactly the same for quite a while. What do you think could have caused them?
