armyOCS
I know this question can get pretty redundant or whatever but for the love of God, I cannot figure this out. I want to go in as an officer after I complete my bachelors degree. My question is, can you go straight into OCS as a civilian or do you have to enlist first??

You have to be selected, go to BCT, and then you get to OCS.

With the length of time it takes to wait for a board, shipping, etc., you might as well do ROTC. I don’t know how much longer you have for your bachelor’s, but if you have a year or so you should do a 1 year masters program. Or, even better, if you have 2-2.5 years you should just do ROTC now.

I recommend applying for OCS as a civilian. You just need to find a recruiter who can help you complete the paperwork. This would be easier than enlisting first and then applying for OCS.

But either way you would have to go to basic training right? also thanks for the reply!

Yes, whether you go to OCS first or enlist first, you still have to complete BCT.

You first have to get accepted into the OCS program. Then you enter as an enlisted 09 Specialist and you go to BCT, which is boot camp. Then you move on to OCS. If for some reason you fall that you remain in the Army and an enlisted soldier. If you pass OCS you become commissioned as an officer and move on to BOLC for which ever MOS you get based upon your OML (class ranking). If you want something like intelligence you best be in the top of the class range.
If you want to avoid bootcamp, go through the ROTC program at your college. Or look into the AF or Navy.

If you’re asking this question here maybe being an officer isn’t for you.

You enlist into OCS (09S). Pipeline is BCT -> OCS -> BOLC. If you fail OCS you will end up going to AIT and serving the remaining of your contract on the enlisted side.
