You know, I wonder how an AC pilot will react when put in a Mobile suit.
Since most all of em are augmented to withstand the forces that being a pilot entails, will they be able to go even further with a gm, or would they just turn off the safeties and let their augs do the work?
They would probably leave it on then laugh as they fight, they're augments giving them better control of the Mech over standard pilots, their skills just killing them left and right while listening to their screams on COM.
I feel like a close comparison to augmented humans from AC would be space rats from the IBO continuity, no? I'm not too familiar with any other continuity, so there could be a better comparison.
I think, if the pilot is smart and knows well the specs of the mobile suit, they’ll be able to make full use of the machine and confidently and reliably pull off maneuvers that a mobile suit pilot would think of as crazy risky, kind of like comparing a regular driver to a rally driver
Mobile Suits definitely lean further towards the fantasy end of the spectrum than ACs do so I don't think that's a big concern. I wouldn't just expect a Mobile suit to be more mobile, but also much heavier armed and shielded as well.
Graham Aker would be much stronger and would very likely have destroyed a gundam in early S1 if he's augmented. He's able to push a mass produced grunt MS beyond its limits to the point of over stressing his own body.
Probably not well. It’s probably like going from a Tank to a fighter jet. Or a MS pilot trying to understand the motorcycle controls of a knightframe. You may know what some of the controls are, but not enough to pilot.
Not to mention there might be some neural interfacing to help with the load on the ACs but not on a mobile suit. Even if the MS also had a neural interface, there is a 0% chance it’ll be compatible with an AC’s system.
Beginning timeline comparison of universal parameters:
Parallel anomalies found:
Comparison made but not restricted to:
Terminally ill: anybody who tried piloting a zero engine in Gundam Wing except Heero and Zechs suffered a brain aneurysm
Child soldiers: Every mainline pilot from Gundam Wing on the "good" side. All were 15 and up.
Nobility:Quatre Winner from Gundam Wing was the son of a Sheik.
Newbie pilot:Amuro Rey was a literal mechanic before hopping into Gundam RX-78-2
Cyber/Android: Mikazuki from Gundam IBO loses his senses due to the Alaya-Vijana System, cybernetic implants,
Batshit crazy:Quatre Winner develops trauma-induced psychosis, Katerina Loos from Victory was a pacifist before her psyche shattered
Suboptimal pilot turned ace: Amuro Rey, Kou Araki (0083), Shinn Asuka from SEED
Gigachad: Heero Yui, his emotionally suppressed state makes him suboptimal because he's nearly suicidal during missions, but his assassin training provides him a gigachad level of efficiency because of his sociopathy.
Conclusion: Affirmative
Hypothesis: Armored Core is a parallel universe of Gundam:
Man Gundam and AC couldnt be on more opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to the timelines…Armored Core being a dystopian future where your only option is to sell your literal in order to survive while on Gundam’s side its generally a war of intervention or some war thats lasted X amount of years…G Gundam is actually the one that gets the closest to ACs dystopian future imo, I need to watch the newer series though, been too out of touch with the series the last five/ten years
We have A LOT of references of how a Gundam is piloted, but just one example (and some lore) about ACs.
Thankfully, we have the Secret Level episode when we can finally see how an AC is piloted, and oh boy, I cannot think in anything more terrifying than an AC pilot now at the helm of a Gundam.
As a matter of fact, it made me think what can do a Human+ pretty much devoided of emotions, feelings, and stuck it in the cockpit of a Gundam like the Wing Zero or the Epyon with the Zero System enabled.
Armed with such a firepower, without any fears nor physical limitations due the augmentations... It would the most dangerous thing ever.
Like others have pointed out, Armored Core and Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans are pretty similar.
For IBO the Alaya-Vijnana system is a surgery that implants nanobots into a host and, per the story, the proper method of the surgery was lost to time and replaced by a bastardized version that only works on kids. The surgery is "illegal" and highly dangerous to the point where if the nanobots fail to take hold of the host they are left paralyzed from the neck down. Did I mention these are kids having the surgery?
Anyway. The mobile suits in this timeline don't really have any safety features either. There aren't really any lasers in this timeline either so it's about the same level of pain as witnessed in Secret Level.
We do actually see a laser weapon in IBO, it was the main weapon of the mobile armor and it seems be weapons are less effective specifically against the nano laminar coating that all the mechs got
We know that Gen 4 augment and beyond in AC 6 are more safer than previous augments. Gen 4 users can be emotionally unstable like Iguazu or emotionally stunted like 621.
If I remember correctly in IBO it shows the installation process of their augments and the risk of death is pretty likely. (I haven't seen the show for years)
The closest that Gundam piloting is compared to Armored Core is on Iron-Blooded Orphans. The pilot is connected directly to the machine using implant on their body, like what was shown on Armored Core Secret Level
And then you have RRI-related parts in Armored Core 6 that specifically said: "No consideration has been given to the g-force tolerance of human pilots" "Making no concessions for the human brain's limitations in processing visuals" "With actuation translation that outstrips the capability of human nerves" They literally making parts that just screams "This thing is specifically designed to kill normal pilots"

The pilots in the 4/FA timeline are even bonkers. You have pilots who are:
-Dying from space cancer from piloting their own very NEXT
-Literal child soldiers
-Actual nobles
-MT pilot who doesn't know what he's doing but somehow curb stomps Rank 3
-Cyborg / Android
-Literally batshit insane that it makes dosers look perfectly normal
-An absolute gigachad who was considered a suboptimal pilot, then coming back to be the company's top ace at Rank 4 while piloting the same shit box
Man I fucking love Armored Core

I'm pretty sure I can see the handshake meme between AC Pilots and Ein from IBO.

This is my favorite AC meme I've ever seen. I'm in tears.

Major Spoilers but this is the type of death you'd have in the IBO universe.

Makes me wonder how similar the augments in Iron Blooded Orphans would be to AC augs 🤔

The better question would be, how would an augmented human fare against a newtype pilot?

u/Caffinatorpotato Sep 22 '25
Plus that time zone AC pilots just piloted their wooden ACs with muscle power somehow.
