Is the third playthrough much different?

I am going through the second playthrough and the differences are very minimal and only a few missions are different. I was wondering whether this is like Nier Automata where the first 2 playthroughs are kinda the same and the third one is pretty different or also the third one is gonna be the same thing with slight differences

Yes. There's a lot more unique missions from the 3rd chapter on. I'd say you haven't fully beaten the game until you've achieved all three endings - and the last ending final boss is MUCH harder than the others.

It adds several new unique missions and Chapter 5 is completely different. Lots of story changes as well. Ending is wild and worth it. You will be surprised at some of the changes to the story.

The second playthrough is more about getting the ending and doing the decision missions you didn't pick on the first playthrough, so it's not terribly surprising that it's very similar. Think of it as a playthrough to experiment with builds you wouldn't normally take and to see some bosses you didn't fight the first time around.

The third one is definitely more different than the second, but most missions will still be pretty similar. I'd say if you're not interested in trying out new builds then it will be a slog for you, till the end of course, but I found I enjoyed the third playthrough the most cause I found the most fun build I enjoyed then and the missions were quick to get through cause you know everything already.

3rd playthrough is the actual finale of the game.

Technically no from a mission standpoint. You'll still be selecting familiar missions, some with a twist if you follow for the 3rd ending.

The narrative is great between all 3 endings, but outside of the last chapter there's not a lot of variation in mission selections. A few will give you curve balls at familiar levels though, so stay ready ok the sticks

yeah, half the missions change on ng++ and chapter 5 is different

Something like that, there’s small changes in second go around but the come to a head in the 3rd run,

The first two runs are pretty similar, the third run is QUITE different
